So what is this about? They mad because KP wore corn rows/braids in a music video?

So now being a wannabe/wankster is racist?

Eating watermelon in a video where your style copies off black people is probably not the best idea

So their response to this remark is pretty typical of their calculated ethos. Just like how blacks cannot be racist, they also cannot culturally appropriate anything from white people. They say that it's something that blacks HAVE to do in order to make it in this white dominated world. So they are heroes if they wear traditional African garb or dress like some Ole Miss frat boy.

The odd part is that people that are far beyond having to "fit into the white world" still "culturally appropriate" white culture despite not needing in any longer. You think Beyonce still needs to have long blonde straight hair in order to be successful in "the white man's world"? DeRay has made a career by dressing like Carlton and railing against the evils of whiteness. You think he needs to dress like a white kid in order to get his message across?

frick both of them.

DeRay is "famous" for accomplishing nothing in life and Katy is there just seeking some kind of media attention.

I don't appreciate DeRay's cultural appropriation of automobiles, airplanes, wearing denim nor being on television.

It's also interesting how liberals are selective in who the prosecute in the court of public opinion. Most anyone else would've been crucified for that. Just like how two white folks - Hillary and DeBlasio - can do a sketch about "colored people time" and get off unscathed.

did Katy Perry drop some bad acid or something recently? She's really gone off the deep end. Her career will never recover IMO

A lot of this is being fueled by the rabid anti-Trump movement in Hollywood. It has completely consumed them and this type of nonsense is the fruit of that movement.

I thought this was all ridiculous until I saw the video... I get it a little more now.

Girl is off her rocker if she thought there wasn't anything 'off' about the staging of that.

On the contrary, her staging of that was intentional. Publicly proclaiming a mea culpa for your white privilege is a hot trend among the upper class progressives. It's moral preening, and while it might earn snide remarks from some, it gets them kudos from their social circles.

Yeah, it used to be the green movement. Now they've moved on to this.

oh there is an entire argument based around admitting your privilege as a form of sound cleanse that is unavailable even to fully innocent people of non-color without repenting and begging for forgiveness

almost any "how to talk to a POC about racism" guide will start with "have you acknowledged your own privilege before asking this question?"
