She is "actually" young though... she was 13 when the show started

It's the 3rd highest rated scripted show of any genre of the entire network
But they were way down the list in the rating the key demo, and given that plus airing time, they could only command a fraction of the advertisement price of their most popular shows.

Furthermore, Tim Allen's extremely high salary had already been an issue for years, but next season they would have had to pay for production costs, which was a new cost.

It's already in syndication as well.
And getting it to syndication is the big deal, not keeping it going necessarily.

There was obviously a political component here.
The only obvious component is the basic economics. Added costs and declining ratings, especially in key demo, means it's less profitable--if not unprofitable.

They only had a deal with 20th Century to do six seasons. ABC was going to be forced to take on production costs in season seven and on.

Cancellation makes sense without any consideration of politics.

Um....it was kicked to Friday for having poor ratings and couldn't perform well enough on Fridays to justify the high price Tim Allen demands- I thought y'all like the Free Market?

Ain't it funny how the very people who constantly bemoan all the whiny snowflake professional victims seem to always claim they are being persecuted whenever anything doesn't go their way?

ZOMG! An aging show with a laugh track I never would have watched and didn't know about got canceled! The lead actor is a conservative! ITS A CONSPIRACY TO SILENCE US!!!

Remember, this show wasn't owned by ABC, and in the Netflix day and age - not owning the show you are airing is actually kinda costly. Fox ends up with the much better deal, by getting royalties from every place like Netflix, or Amazon.

Exactly.

For ABC to have seen syndication profits they would have had to air the show for a another 88 episodes (the typical number needed for a syndication package) which would mean 4 more years for a show with with an eroding fanbase that is in the wrong age demo when it comes to what advertisers want.

They clearly didn't think it was worth it financially to keep it around for that long.

Does anybody really look at these left-wing loons like Ashley Judd, Michael Moore, Joy Behar, etc. and truly believe they have the best ideas of where this country should be heading? Seriously?

Nobody will ever confuse Donald Trump for Mister Rogers, but a couple of things:

(1) He's much more genuine than these phony, virtue-signaling left-wing loons. Trump is blunt, can be brash and combative, but what you see is what you get. OTOH, these limousine liberals like Bernie Sanders, Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, etc. are hypocrites of the highest order. They'll preach basically a Socialist message to the rest of us, but then they retreat to their mansions (Bernie has 3) and live the life of elitist snobs.

And, don't even get me started on the left-wing women. They're an assortment of unhappy lesbians (Rosie, Sally John, etc), or man-hating, childless unmarried like Sarah Silverman or Ashley Judd.

(2) Don't look now, but Trump is doing a great job for the people who elected him. Illegals are being rounded up, and illegal border crossings are down by approximately 70%. Companies & countries are investing in America again. A conservative is on the Supreme Court. TOP is DOA. The coal industry is gearing up for a comeback. Law enforcement is no longer being used as a scapegoat to advance racist agendas. Etc, etc.

I am very, very happy with the vote I cast on 11/8 ( or actually, about 2 weeks before that).

There's zero way this show would have worked.

One its still a sitcom in an era where they are dying.

It's forced.

Laughtrack.

And the dialogue is offensive to moron SJWs and younger - who would be the target audience.

So you are pissing off your sit-com target audience. Young idiots who watch Two Broke Girls.

It would be like doing Trading Places now, never work. Never work.

Solid clip. Thanks for sharing.

This was up next in my YouTube feed: Tim Allen on Jimmy Kimmell talking about going to Trump's inauguration. He lets Hollywood have it, saying it's like 1930's Germany. Also says he wishes people shopped for news as much as they shop on Amazon Prime.

Don't worry man, some of us still say what we want to say when we want to say it, and DGAF what other people think. Wanna be offended? Doesn't bother me one bit.

Hell, I purposely piss off SJWs and snowflakes all of the time because I think it is funny

It was the network's second highest rated comedy, and it wasn't significantly behind the highest rated comedy.

Also, there wasn't ANY negotiations. Typically when an aging show is being put out to pasture, they try to tweak things around to play with the numbers to get another season out of it, or to send it off appropriately. Example would House cutting some leads in the last season.

That didn't happen there. There was no formal discussion, which would have been required given the complicated production set up hampering internal discussion.

ABC flat out said there are no terms they would agree to, and they want it off, off, off.

Given the political climate, you have to be pretty deliberately blind to not at least question it.

Maybe they just cancelled it because no one watched???? My wife loves that show, but I just could not care less to watch it. I'm conservative, but the fact that Tim Allen was conservative in it doesn't mean I suddenly love the show. It trying to knock those that like it, but I personally can easily see why it was pushed to bad time spots and cancelled . Really think people are grasping to call this a political conspiracy....I mean it ran for it's fair share of seasons.

Look, I'm all about people being free to put whatever they want into their bodies but if you need cannabis, psychedelics or any other mind altering substance in order for your ideology to make sense then there's something wrong with that ideology. Sounds cultish to me.

The America we grew up in is growing progressively more liberal with each passing day. A new order is emerging. More multicultural, more progressive, more inclusive. A new order that has cannabis and psychedelics as it's sacraments to help open our third eye and lead us onward into the brave new world of the 21st century. The old world and it's bankrupt institutions are crumbling before our very eyes. The old political, religious, social, and financial order is breaking down to enable something more enlightened and organic to take it's place. A society that is less hierarchical and patriarchal. A society more multicultural and feminine. It is upon us. There is no going back to even the world of ten years ago. It does not bode well for religious and social conservatives. That rigid way of thinking is about to be dead and buried.

ALl old frickers have said something to this effect since the dawn of man...and there is a lot of truth in it...there is no going back...man has marched toward progress since he first stood erect and said..."damn, the view from up here is much better....but my back hurts like hell.....".

This is not to say that the march has not seen some setbacks and momentary reversals...and I think we are on a minor one as we speak...there is nothing at all good which will emerge from the Western World's sudden interest in nationalism and white supremacy....but the die is cast...when white people became more enamored with property than anything else the die was cast....because people who aren't white are fricking like bunnies and demographics simply do not favor white folks much longer...we had a good run and did some good things...but it is coming to an end....and the nationalism in the west is one of the first final dying struggles...
