How about trying yo not judge a book by its cover and find out what was the reason someone didn't finish HS traditionally?? I mean god forbid you take the judgements shades off while trying to staff a business.

But naaaaa frick that, judge that bitch, I'm sure there hasn't ever been an issue out of someone's hands of why they had to get a GED... frick it

I mean looking at resumes is quite literally judging a book by its cover. I would toss most resumes in the trash if they don't have a ged unless it's for a fork lift operator and even then

GED is probably harder than a traditional HS diploma. You have four years to finish high school. GED is more of a sprint.

One of the smartest kids in our class took the GED when she was in the 11th grade and went on to college early. I guess she was just sick of high school bullshite.

If the highest level of education you're looking at is high school then why would a GED be that big of a deal?

Yep. At that level, the more important question is "Do they piss clean?"

Sometimes having a GED isn't about high school at all...... I was home schooled. The program my mom used wasn't accredited. I got a 27 on my ACT and a GED. I can just say with little fear of being wrong that I'm the most successful person on TD.

Just food for thought.

How are you measuring success? This could kick off an interesting competition.

I'm a GED holder--in addition to 2 bachelors degrees, a masters, and a doctoral degree. I came through home school before it was "cool," and getting a GED was the only way I could get into college. So, there's that.

If you won't hire someone because they have a GED instead of a diploma, I'd say that would be one of the smallest obstacles you'd have to overcome to ever have any success.

Bad decisions as a youngster, but put in the effort to better themselves later in life. Would absolutely hire

I am 62 yeas old, while the school work may have been simple, my high school years were some of the most difficult years of my life, it was very hard to focus on school. Many people drop out of school to escape difficult home environments, not everyone with a GED as lazy or a screw up. My Dad had a GED and later became a engineer, a local dentist started out with a GED, and at least one NASA astronaut had a GED.

I know someone who finished 11th grade, realized she could get a GED and just go straight to college so that's what she did.

I'm a welding inspector and passed the 6 figure point years ago. I also just finished writing my first novel.

I have a GED.
