Landrieu apologizes

quote:

Mayor Mitch Landrieu apologized, Wednesday to one of his longtime supporters, businessman Frank Stewart, seeking to de-escalate a spat between the two over Stewart’s opposition to the mayor’s plan to take down four Confederate-era monuments.

Stewart purchased a two-page advertisement Wednesday in The New Orleans Advocate titled “Dear Mitch — Shame on You.”

On Wednesday evening, Landrieu issued a statement saying, “I owe my friend Frank Stewart an apology for mentioning his name. It was a mistake."

I am not a huge Landrieu fan, but that was a classy response.

No, that was an attempt to keep one of the richest and most influential people in the state from going in dry on his sorry arse.

Landrieu is a worthless POS! Trying to capitalize on a controversial subject that he created due to the Dylan Roof incident. Lifetime politician who doesn't want to work for a living....wiping his arse was the most physical work he's probably ever done. How 'bout we boycott New Orleans like all these groups have been doing over the last decade or so. Can't wait till he fades into the sunset like his twin sister.

I can't imagine the backlash Mitch felt from his family and political friends for alienating one of their biggest financial backer.

So your think the statue for Lee is there because he built some rock piles at the mouth of the river?
let's be fair, that would have been a pretty arduous task in the mid 1800s...

Because it's a completely fabricated Leftist SJW issue designed solely to make money and gain political influence. It's fricking stupid.

Nobody, black or white, cared about the statues until Half Moon decided to get rid of them in the name of togetherness (he achieved the exact opposite). All he's done is incite outside agitators and Tulane/Loyola SJWs who are taking up his anti-history cross. Now we see black people actually taking up the fight to save the statues. Mitch sold his soul to the devil (Al Sharpton, et al), and I hope he enjoys his 30 pieces of silver. He's a joke who has divided the city in ways it hasn't been divided in years. His legacy will be shameful.

I agree. Only Lee and Beauregard were well known. I drove by Davis hundreds of times and never stopped.

If Mitch would have came out with a plan just to change Lee circle into Tricentennial circle, people who support the monuments may have even been on board.

Instead he drew a line in the sand.
Absolutes bring out this kind of response.

I could have gotten on board with swapping Lee with Eisenhower and renaming Lee Circle Eisenhower Circle.

considering the proximity to the WW2 museum, not a bad idea....but if you really want to get NOLA, put Lightning Joe Collins up there, someone local (he was from Algiers and went to Warren Easton)

Absolutely not.

Robert E Lee will be swapped with Harry Lee and it will remain Lee Circle.

As we all know, Lee was a Chinaman so all the self-righteous hippie cocksuckers will be appeased.
