It certainly is a factor in favor of allowing his statute to remain in place.

It was erected to white supremacy. There is no way around it.

Looking for a reason to leave it up, other than money, is just trying to justify wrongs that should be righted.

How is he an embarrassment?

Y'all
Act like
He betrayed a large segment of people...

Why is this the cross y'all want to take up? Is this really the cross? There is more
To this,
Please let me in on it. It not worth it. Literally, you're fighting for treasonous bastards

He is an embarrassment because this move is self serving and just plain uninformed and WRONG. He is doing this to create a legacy to replace his real legacy as a failed Mayor who did NOTHING about crime, a crappy police force, and a crumbling infrastructure. He was playing to the DC elite hoping to get to Washington in some cush appointment...that in, and of, itself is embarrassing.
To top that...show me a single black person in New Orleans who knew who these statues were, much less were ever traumatized by driving past them...its all pandering bullshite....
Did Germany erase the Holocaust by knocking down Auschwitz...no they left it right there to be discussed and hopefully not repeated...you can't tell me Mitch had any other reason for this shite move other than his own selfish motives....yes, this is a cross that needs to be taken up so people like Mitch Landrieu know that we are all not as dumb as he wants us to be....and his views are not the views of the majority...this should have gone to a vote.

I'm sorry, but the inquiry does not begin and end with any motivations in existence when the monuments were first erected. The Lee and Beauregard statues in particular have acquired over time a place in the city's historical and architectural landscape.

So did Berlin Street and a dozen or so McDonough schools.

Hell, Tivoli means more to the city than Lee

Beauregard is the one that I care about the most. He has abundant ties to the city, and it's a beautiful statue.

The whole monument vendetta is a very transparent and cheap move that I hope ruins his political career

If Jeff Davis is moved, it needs to go to Beauvoir...NOT to some contributor of the Landrieu's....

Beauregard without a doubt needs to stay because of his ties to the city...Lee, the logistics of moving that statue make moving PT-305 from the WW2 museum out to the river look simple...

It will. The liberal elites won't be happy once they learn that Mitch didn't fight against Confederate commemorations, such as Confederate license plates, while in state government.

I agree. It is a shame that the statue protectors went all in on saving these instead of choosing wisely to save the couple that have meaning to the city.

It seems like Frank is a good guy. Probably too much of a Landrieu supporter for me to really like him, but he helped in a lot of ways with his money and time.
Mitch is a shallow piece of shite for calling him out.

it seems he's a philanthropist (now that he's made his billions)... so he's probably supported people on both sides of the aisle

he was attacked in the media by the mayor and has every right to strike back in the same media

that was a very thought out ad by Mr. Stewart

There are two people in this state I would not publicly call out. B.I. Moody and Frank Stewart.

Either one has the clout to drastically alter your life plans.

Lee was also stationed at Jackson Barracks during the Mexican war. Landrieu said he Never set foot in the city and that was not true.

Were the Barracks part of the city then?
