Thinking of surprising my wife with an overnight stay ... as this will be the only way she will stay.

Ghost or no ghost, which room is recommended?

went last summer, we stayed in the john leake room. It was one of the more affordable ones. No real complaints. It was older but clean. Private bathroom unlike some rooms i believe. On the 2nd floor, it faces the courtyard. The view is just ok

I think there are black people who work there. Proceed at your own risk.

We stayed in the Fannie Williams room with the freaky dolls.

I was hoping a hot ghost babe would molest me in the middle of the night.

I was disappoint

Well the kitchen caught fire the other day. So I'd check in before you plan anything

We went about 13 years back. My niece was throwing the ball with the owners dog and the ball went down a fenced off well and the dog followed. The fire dept was able to get the dog out but it was too late and it died. One of the few freaky things to happen that day/night.

It's one of the best B&Bs I've ever stayed at. And the evening tour b4 bed is awesome. Took a girlfriend back in college and would suggest it to. Everyone

we had to deal with a poltergeist.

The SO was scratched on her arm, and I was raped.

Stay in one of the cottages at Butler-Greenwood a few miles away. They're fabulous. Take the tour at The Myrtles.

I like the Myrtles; stayed in the Ruffin Sterling room once. Nothing weird. I have a friend who stayed and woke up in the middle of the night with the chandelier in their room swinging back and forth. I don't like how they push some of the b.s. stories though. There was enough real tragedy and death in the house. They don't need to be bullshitting people about Chloe and the dude dying on the stairs.

I do not recommend the restaurant. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad but they were really sautéed. They still expected me to pay 50%. Will not be going back

SO and I stayed in the General Bradford Suite 4 years ago. It was a pretty cool night. I would recommend that room...but as others have said not the restaurant.

I went on a tour a few years ago. It wrapped up in the kitchen/dining area and I noticed all these creepy portraits on the wall. When everyone started leaving, I asked the tour guide who was on all the portraits...his response:

"Ah those are just random portraits to really make the place seem creepy."

Also, throughout the tour I noticed some lights flashing outside like it was lightning or something. When we left, I noticed some lights outside that just come on/off real quick every so often.

It's all BS.

Dude, the place isn't haunted. They make a lot of money on people thinking its haunted.
