I love how principled people are. The are all for freedom of expression as long as the thought being expressed are similar to theirs.
Very conservative guy last night was upset that the school sent the permission slip for the pledge. Thinks that kids should be forced to say the pledge, whether they want to or not. Well, because you have to love freedom, no you really have to.
If someone ever has the fortitude to label the BLM movement as they truly are, then I would agree with making the shirt off limits at school. However, until that happens, people should have the right to show support to it just as they should to the NRA, their religion or other ideals they hold dear.

I was thinking the same. It was either a) she was lying, or b) she DID see a "white power" shirt, but it was some type of satire shirt, or an obvious joke that change the context of the wording. Im guessing she just lied, because all of these stories up to this point have been filled with lies. A girl in Massachusetts was literally charged in court for lying about racist acts against her, and she was ordered to pay $40k in restitution for the cost of law enforcement put in place to answer her lie. Just shows how far people are willing to lie, and this wouldn't even be a big lie compared to that.
That or it was an electric company owned by someone with the last name White.
That or a huge Barry White fan

Blah. If they only singled out BLM stuff as against the rules, the rest of your post might be worth a damn.

Not exactly sure how a t shirt disrupts a learning process.
So you're saying a t-shirt with a pornographic image on it wouldn't disrupt a learning process? Have you not been around anyone under 30 in a really long time?

As have I. And in those instances they were sent to the office to retrieve a change of clothes.

where she says administration leaders told her the shirt wasn’t allowed. “I wasn't able to wear the shirt anymore because somebody made a complaint,
Well that's right out of the SJW/BLM playbook so fair is fair on return play

Didn't we have a thread on why some students are not passing the ACT?

Good. Follow the rules.
I agree. Everyone should follow what the Supreme Court says. Even when they say students have a freedom of speech in what they wear- like when a school told these guys they couldn't wear armbands protesting Vietnam. The school lost. Look up Tinker
quote:
In December 1965, a group of students in Des Moines held a meeting in the home of 16-year-old Christopher Eckhardt to plan a public showing of their support for a truce in the Vietnam war. They decided to wear black armbands throughout the holiday season and to fast on December 16 and New Year's Eve. The principals of the Des Moines school learned of the plan and met on December 14 to create a policy that stated that any student wearing an armband would be asked to remove it, with refusal to do so resulting in suspension. On December 16, Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt wore their armbands to school and were sent home. The following day, John Tinker did the same with the same result. The students did not return to school until after New Year's Day, the planned end of the protest.
Through their parents, the students sued the school district for violating the students' right of expression and sought an injunction to prevent the school district from disciplining the students.

I am not going to be a hypocrite. I don't support BLM in the least bit, but this is still the United States of America. Even if I don't like what people are supporting, they still have a right to do so.
You can't allow people to wear something that is about something you agree with then turn around and make someone change their shirt if its about something you don't support.
Of course it is. You are free to wear whatever you want on the streets of America. However, there are rules to follow and one of the first places you learn that is in school. You follow the rules or you receive a punishment. It's one of life's oldest lessons.

Does that apply to school districts as well?

This why you make the lil bastards wear uniforms.

The only T-Shirts allowed at most offices are sports teams (college and pro). Why not the same for schools?

If it did, they have a legit argument. Like I said, I am not defending what she is supporting, I am defending the right to support it.

The article says she claims that other shirts like white power shirts are allowed. She could very well be lying. If the school says no potentially controversial clothing are to be allowed than they shouldn't be allowed.
