How to get from downtown to central? Blackwater? How far North till a bridge is open?

WAFB has been wall to wall coverage, but national media has practically ignored this. Ridiculous
This is not that uncommon for floods. We didn't have a lot of coverage for flooding in West Virginia a few months back. I guess they just view it as a local issue.

Hate to break it to you brah but most of central has been underwater for some time now.
The chances of them having power (and subsequently wifi) are virtually nil.
I talked to att this morning and supposedly 911 will still work even without service. So hopefully if they needed evacuation, they should have been able to get it.

All major thoroughfares into central are closed as far as I've heard...apparently there may be a way to go through Zachary, but that's not 100%

Thank you for the update on lakes at greys creek

Wards is definitely rising fast. My friends on Santa Maria are busting arse right now to get everything up to the second floor. People are rushing as quick as possible to hand out sand bags to the other neighbors too.

It's about 18" below the pillings so it went down. Still higher than normal and not moving

The roads in Highland Creek Subdivision (side closest to Sammy's) is flooded. Bayou Fountain is in my backyard and has not overflowed yet, but the storm drains are backing up on us.

We have been talking about backwater flooding for two days now. Our news agencies are dropping the ball. Too many people are being taken by surprise on this.

Appreciate it Magoo. I had heard from them last night, and their house is very high up so I think they fine, but I just wish I had some way to contact them.

Anyone have a status on the neighborhood in front of Open Door Baptist Church in Denham? The name of the street is Victory Lane. It's my wife's grandmother and haven't heard from her since yesterday afternoon

Boat - was going to check myself, but I can't pull up the 100 year flood map anymore.
Is your area in a blue 100yr flood zone or was it supposed to be staying dry?
ETA: I thought Shenandoah was supposed to be high ground

Storm drains backing up is the first sign backwater flooding is happening. I think we are about to see a lot of highland/Burbank areas under.

How has a device that can evaporate mass quantities of water not been invented yet?

Rain dropping in the area, not sure any will park over Baton Rouge but they are capable of dropping an inch or two.
Been watching that this morning. There is a pretty unstable air mass in place across S. Louisiana and the sun has been breaking through. It appears most areas are warming enough to erode the bit of CINH that was in place. PW values are somewhere b/w 2.0 and 2.25, plenty high enough for heavy rain. The biggest question right now is what will coverage look like? Most of the models seem to not be handling things this morning very well and have missed most of the precipitation over S. Miss.
