I'm visiting next month and bringing my new wife with me who hasn't experienced the fine food in New Orleans. I'm familiar with the tourist traps, classics such as Mother's, and more upscale such as Commanders. Which shop in your opinion has the absolute best poboys? Please also let me know any other recommendations of places we must eat. I'd say anywhere under $30 per plate. Thank you

I meant to say that my dad recommended Mandina's and someone at work said City Grocery. No poboy related, has anyone ever eaten at Elizabeth's Restaurant? Buddy at work said it was money for breakfast.

That is like asking which girl at Platinum Plus gave the most effort. Impossible.

Parkway Poboy. Either get the surf n turf, or one of you get a shrimp, and the other one get roast beef and gravy, and then y'all share.

As for other food options... Don't forget oyster's at Drago's (don't bother with any of the entrees).

I would probably agree with this.

Parkway, and Guys (should be open soon) would be next in line.

just go to parkway
they'll like the atmosphere/surroundings and the poboys are generally excellent

Elizabeth's Restaurant

Elizabeth's is great and is located in the bywater, which is an area of town the tourist usually miss.

I'd say Parkway and Guy's (if it is open again when you go) have my favorite poboys in the city. I haven't had Bevi's though so maybe they are great as well.

I agree

Though I slightly prefer Bevi food wise, I'd rather eat at parkway. Eating outside on a day like today would be money

Neither of those places have a good RB so the lose big points with me. I wouldn't be surprised if Guys opened up next week. All the tables are set up and they look ready to go.

Bevi
Parenton's
Freret St. Po Boy

Those are my three I circle around with the occasional Parkway thrown in. In a weird way, there arent really as many po boy shops as there should be.

Bevi is outstanding but its not much of a fun place. Parkway is a better bet. R & o's is relatively out the way but worth the drive

I prefer Bevi to Parkway and the Bevi midcity spot has picnic tables outside under a nice oak tree. Bevi Midcity would be my #1 choice for poboys.

I demolish that. And the smokey oyster. And most of them, period.

I've never considered Mother's to be a "classic".

For other places to eat, you can stay under $30 a person at Peche pretty easily. You can also get a fine lunch at the Windsor Court on any day but Sunday, for under $20. 4 courses which is really 5 because dessert is included. Search threads for some reviews.
