This...dressed...with American cheese.

Damn.

Also - will second Parkway but will categorically state that currently, the best fried shrimp po'boy in New Orleans is at the orange store over by Rampart at Kerlerec. Big butterflied shrimp fried in a just right panko style breading, loaded into a Leidenheimers loaf. This...this I say...is seriously good.

The place is actually called the Rampart Food Store but you'll know it by the orange paint. Just note it is just a store, there is no seating.

Yeah, Mother's is a classic. It's not all that good anymore, but it is nonetheless an institution.

This is full of the predictable and stupid.

But I did laugh.

Probably not the best but the fried shrimp w/ roast beef gravy and Swiss at Domilise's is my favorite

Singleton's is another hidden little gem. That catfish is freaking great.

Destroyed a peacemaker from Bevi yesterday. I have yet to go to the Midcity location even though it is closer to my house, I assume the quality is the same. Haven't had any poboy there that wasn't great.
I also enjoy the shrimp/oyster and catfish combo at Parkway.

Bevi is really good. For a seafood place their roast beef and cochon da lait are outstanding.

Bevi is probably my favorite now as well, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for your situation.

I would say Parkway, get a surf and turf, call it a day. Its a great traditional poboy place and great place out of the tourist areas, but good for tourists.

Elizabeth's is a very good breakfast spot. Highly recommend. It does get pack as the day goes on.

Skip Mandina's. I've had wars with some of the old farts on this board about that place but my personal opinion is the place is not great now. I actually hate the place, I think the food sucks (especially considering how popular it is). Just not my thing AT ALL. Others like it.

Parkway has the best shrimp. Their roast beef is passable, but putting some roast beef gravy on the fried shrimp is the way to go.

Best roast beef is Bears in Meatairie.

and i agree with others, Bevi's menu has the best 'boys top to bottom

Love Bevi, but that seeded french bread really grinds my gears.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Liuzza's by da trak. Their hot sausage po boy is on point, and they have hand cut fries.

Bevi still better. Bears cost more and you leave hungry.

Bears has a bigger po boy than Bevi. It is over priced but i still like it a little bit better
