My dads older 22' champion baychamp has been sitting outside for the past 5 years without being used. Complete waste of a boat and Im tired of looking at it. I chose to take it and have it put to use. It needs a complete overhaul from rebuilding the engine, complete rewiring (brother hooked up speakers and burnt basically everything electrical). Who would you recommend in the houma/morgan city area that would be worth a damn. Heres just a little peek of under the console.

This right here.

Why does it need rewired? Everything looks pretty good.

I would pour gasoline in and throw a lit match in it and finish off the job your brother started before I ever even attempted to rewire that cluster.

Half if it doesnt work. He also put on a trolling motor. Decided to tie wrap the wires around the throttle cables. Throttle cables are now bent to hell aswell. Dont know how the hell that happened.

Its salvageable, but is it worth paying someone to fix the cluster of frickups

Meh. It honestly probably wouldn't be too bad. Isolate the wires that were run by your brother (Should be pretty obvious).

Remove them all, see what works and what doesn't. Troubleshoot from there.

i would start with removing all of the unecessary crap and then see what you have left. That bird nest is a little overwhelming.

I Highly doubt he actually burned anything up. Remove his stuff. See what works and what doesn't and start checking fuses.

I've seen worse
if whoever did it used tinned marine wire and decent connectors you could probably salvage most of that

you could do it yourself if you want to learn or obviously you could bring it somewhere. I would go pick up the 12V bible and get to it if I were you

Google boat wiring color code. You can use that to trace out what is what. A shop is going to rape you.

Im in marksville, boat is in morgan city. In the process of moving so doing it myself will def take more time than it should. Im no electrical expert by no means. Id drag it to BR if it was done correctly at a decent price. Was expecting it to cost around a grand

Me? I would pull every wire out and start from scratch.

Really is not that hard. You can save most of what is there. A good test meter and a heat gun or your wife's hair dry is all you need.

Thats what im thinking. I like CP3's idea of pulling what you know doesnt work and start finding the culprit. I find it hard to believe he destroyed everything hooking up some speakers.

I don't see anything burnt. I would start by ripping everything out that was added over the years, clean and test all the old wiring and switches to see what is what and then go from there.

If you were in BR I would give it a look over. Don't mind trouble shooting it at least. I am 99% sure it should just be a matter of ripping out the added stuff and re-doing it right.

Maybe replace a few fuses
