Figure $2,000, that’s what I have been quoted for mine. That looks like a drunk monkey did the job and had his assistant add to it. It will take more time to look for the good stuff for than it will to rip and start from scratch.

Is that in the transom or console of the boat?
Why are all those small wires back there by the battery? I would think they would all go to a fuse bar or some sort and one larger wire would go back to the battery and a ground.
I guess those white flat wires on the right are speaker wires? Why are they even by the batteries I wonder?
Either way I don't think that is too tough of a job. You should consider just patiently spending an afternoon sorting things out.

My boat is not the one in the picture. I was hoping to identify a qualified individual willing to take on this task. My ability and patience with regards to completing this project are debatable but the fact that I have recently had knee surgery is not.

Speaking from experience, half or better of that shite is worthless. Rip out 100% of old wires, start from zero and build harnesses with connectors. Figuring out what works and what doesn't isnt worth it.

Yep and draw it out on paper first, with fuse block(s) and ground clusters. Half the wiring in boats is entirely unnecessary

Learning how to harness electronics is super super easy and that's what makes the difference between a rat nest and a professional looking job.
Spend a little money on connectors like weatherpak or deutch plugs and some plastic split loom and with some good forethought you can easily make a super clean wire job. I'd make OPs boat into an evening beer drinking project

Can you explain why you would want to make a harness over running to a fuse block? Or would you do both? When I redid my boat I just ran all my wires to a fuse block. I’m curious what the harness does/where it goes in the system.

Both. You make a big fuse block and run harnesses from there to where the juice needs to go.
Do some planning and buy the appropriate multi conductor cable as well. Helps a wholeeeee lot

as others mentioned, it does not look too bad. trust me i have seem alot worse. Remove the crap your brother installed and work your self backwards. get a good mutlimeter and buy some wire, connectors, and loom from somewhere online such as delcity or waytekwire.

My BIL rebuilds powerboats and installs stereos, etc. There is a marine grade romex. It is possible that could be what was used. Also, I see a problem right in the picture, he needs to check that in-line fuse. That is probably the source of his issues.
