Persistent gastric pain and issues in the bathroom - went for an exam, colonoscopy and boom.
For all the mess I see on these boards I really appreciate the responses and encouragement.
Ps looking at Emory University

I've been on both sides of colon cancer without having ever had it myself. I know people personally who caught it in the early stages and are healthy as can be now. Unfortunately, my mom's wasn't noticed until it was very advanced and we lost her a couple months ago.
That being said, the treatment process is a bitch on some people and isn't bad on others at all. But with a positive "Bring It On" attitude and a strong family/friends support system it's very beatable, as proven by the countless survivors. You can do it! Prayers are with you and your family!

You can beat it, man
My pops was diagnosed with stage 3B lung cancer in May. They told him he had 2 years if he was lucky. He has fought it and we got 100% confirmation yesterday via the final test that he is in remission and cancer free.
There are lot's of things you can do to help through the process.
He did some research and ate "cancer" fighting foods and ate foods to keep his energy up through chemo and radiation.
I ordered him a juicer and showed him a recipe I found with carrots and apples and he drank a few of those every day. Carrots have great cancer-fighting abilities as does green tea, grapes, etc.
The most important thing though is that he had it in his mind from the start that it wasn't going to beat him and fought like hell. Granted the first few weeks before the start of chemo we all were in shock but after he got over that he took it on head-on. His oncologist said that the mental aspect is a huge factor people underestimate in beating cancer so whatever you do never give up and get it in your mind you are going to kick its arse.
Prayers for you.

You have every right to be numb and worried. Take a few days to be those things while you digest everything. THEN you turn on your game face and kick some cancer arse! You got this. Happy to hear you went to the doctor when you felt like something was wrong and caught this early. Looking forward to you posting in the near future about how you're cancer free.

My mother in law was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and my understanding is it's very treatable if caught early and hasn't spread. Best wishes to you and your family

So sorry to hear this. My mother in law had it, the caught it relatively early but she had surgery and they removed a significant part of her colon (and I think some lower intestine).
She took chemo for a year and she's still a handful 15 - maybe 17? - years later.
