It's not roasting and I think the other posters made that pretty clear before my post.

Yep. You have to get it off the base of the pan.

I prefer a pork shoulder roast in a slow cooker. Boston Butt's are best thrown on the grill.

Sure it is. It's called pot roasting. And it makes damn good tacos. Do a brisket the same way for brisket tacos. Good stuff.

Rub it down with your favorite taco seasoning mix and add a Dos Equis amber. Top with queso fresco.

I was at a crawfish boil and a guy at our table - from Nola - said he takes a Boston butt and let's it soak in his boil juice for an hour or so, then slow cooks it on his grill. Never heard of that, but he swears by it.

If you've never sliced a roast and thrown a Boston Butt on the grill, you're missing out..

I've cooked Boston Butts in the crockpot plenty of time. I leave the fat cap on, then i put the Butt under the broiler for 5-10 once it is done...this will make some very tasty pork skins!

I pan sear the roast first then put it in the cooker over some trinity!

You'd have to go out your way to dry out a Boston Butt pork roast. That thing is loaded with fat.

Look at it this way. I smoke my Boston Butts for several hours at 250 degrees then pull it off the smoker, place it in a covered roaster with some of the juice from the drip pan of the smoker and finish it off like that and it is never dry.

I like to season it with powdered taco seasoning and then cook in Shiner Bock. Makes awesome pulled pork tacos.

Ive done probably over 100 boston butts in a crock pot

Season and stuff with garlic
Sear in skillet
Place butt in crock pot with root beer and mustard
Let cook in crock pot for 8-10 hours

Pull apart and remove bone.

My SIL will take a beef round roast, season it up really well, brown it for a few minutes on each side, then add some chopped garlic, put it in the crock pot with about 1/4 cup of water, and cook it for about 8 hours. It's really good.

I would imagine you could do the same with a pork butt.

Throw several smoked turkey necks in the crock pot with the pork butts may give a smoky flavor.

I have cooked butts in crock pots and in an Instapot. I prefer the instapot. Covered the trimmed butt generously with Willinghams Cajun spicey rub. Not greasy and tender as heck.
