Damn, people in this thread seem to be taking this personally. Is there some kind of weird law in Baton Rouge that if a new restaurant opens everyone in town HAS to go there?
Jesus, if you don't like Captain D's, don't go, but it's not like the end of the world. UNLESS, for some unknown reason you are required to go there.

Great point
Don't you know according to the food snobs on this board, you have to eat at an original establishment for every meal and have a craft IPA with it.
Also any trendy place that's popular or visited by tourists is automatically shite.
Also if an owner decides to maximize profits and open a second location or God forbid multiple locations it's also then shite and inedible.
I have a confession, took a client to lunch today and let him pick and he picked outback. I got a small filet with grilled shrimp and veggies and I'll be damned it was great.

I bet I can take a pretty good guess what area of town it will be located in

We have a bunch of Capt D's in MS. They do well considering the demographics. Lots of coupons. $3.29 for a 2 piece fish, fries, and hush puppies draws in the upper class seafood snobs

Simply not true, but Captain D's is complete shite. It's a worse representation of seafood than the McRib is of barbecue. Look at that picture. You can get better fried shrimp from a box of seapak in the frozen section at Walmart. Seriously, it's shite.

Who? Who really eats this crap? I can't believe people shovel this shite into their pie hole, much like I can't believe they eat Red Lobster. Do people not stop to think where the seafood is coming from?

That stuff looks like absolute shite. I would slap anyone I was with if they suggested eating there if we were in Baton Rouge, or southern LA for that matter. Hell, just for suggesting such crap.

Entirely different ballgame from eating seafood that probably came from some infected farm in Asia. No thanks, you can shovel that into your mouth til your hearts content. God only knows where the fish came from. Do a little bit of research on Asian aquaculture and you may be singing a different tune.

About time Louisiana got some decent seafood.
Home style fish tenders is Louisiana seafood? OK

If you are defending Captain D's in a market it better be some place like middle of nowhere Eastern Montana where I would think you are so far removed from a seafood producing body of water that it's all gonna be garbage. You are talking about Baton Rouge. You are so close to the coast that fresh seafood is always viable. That's like defending a Panda Express in China. In fact, you should get right on that.

I think denham springs had a captain d's way back in the day. I could be making that up though

Anyway, I haven't had Cap'n D's in forever but I remember it being interchangeable with LJS. From the pics it doesn't look near as greasy.
It's 4:30 am, I'm 23, and I just realized the two restaurants were actually separate entities

Put me in the minority, but I actually enjoy their fish. Sometimes a good batter on a piece of fish is what I like after eating nothing but cornmeal. I know it isn't the best in the world, but then again it is fast food so I know what I'm getting.
I liken it to Yuengling or Imitation Krab Meat. Two things I know aren't the best, but I enjoy them for what they are.

It's okay, the menu has pictures. You'll be fine.
