No problem being different. But you're not really going to affect their bottom line.

Can't do that at Cane's. You can trade the slaw/toast/fries for one another, but not sauce. But, but, but, they have to make a profit.

Is it really worth annoying or pissing a customer off over a 25¢ cup of ranch dressing?

Yeah. That dude is getting mixed up. You can't trade for an extra finger, which people try to do. I worked at Cane's for a summer once, so basically I'm an expert.

What do you mean you have to? You can if you want... or you can pay 29c or however much it is

Lots of people don't eat the slaw and would be willing to exchange it for extra sauce. Though personally I go full fatty and get extra toast. One sauce is enough for me.

Cane's wouldn't be as large as it is now if they were relying on the extra $.29 for a thing of sauce to turn a profit.

Actually, you have this wrong. It should say:

Cane's wouldn't be as large as it is now if they weren't so insistent upon charging $.29 for a thing of sauce in order to reduce loss and maintain margins, which allows for reinvestment and growth.

Well, how long have they been doing this? I don't recall it being that way. Doesn't mean it hasn't always been like that, but where would I get the impression that you couldn't substitute for extra sauce.

I was there in the early 2000s and you could always replace the slaw or whatever for sauce.

Or how about they just added 25 cent to your chicken fingers and then give you a "free" extra ranch?

I have no problem with this
