Some people should be forced to take a plane etiquette class. I flew this past weekend and both ways whenever we landed, practically everyone from the middle to the back jumped up and started trying to go ahead and push forward. It's like hey morons, we unload front to back. Settle the frick down.

Flying back from NYC a few weeks ago, our plane was delayed leaving, so we were 30-45 minutes late landing in Houston. The flight attendants said several times that anyone with a long connection or at their final destination should let people trying to make rushed connections get off first.

So... as soon as the plane landed everyone got up and tried to force their way off, connection or not. Assholes.

Fortunately we caught the flight to BTR, but they had the jetway door closed when we got there... we got lucky.

if you're first on, you're likely to be first off..

Because they don't want to sit in the back next to the shitter and be the last guy off the plane. I think it's kind of silly, but I get it.

Other reason is short people rush so they can be dicks and get the exit row seats so my tall arse has to get scrunched up by the shitter.

Well if you're flying SW and don't have assigned seats, it's a different ballgame.

do you not pick your seat when you book? Seems like a pretty easy way to avoid the problem you describe.

This thread is basically discussing Southwest, as evidenced by the fart talk and traveling mass commute with slobs.

Overhead bins. If it is Southwest, it makes more sense becasue of the seating.

If you sit first class you get drink service before takeoff. That's all I'd be interested in.

overhead, but usually it's so I can get a drink in first class and act more important than the rest of the people as they walk by

This. I hate dealing with the people on planes. Between trying to shove suitcases too large into overheads and trying to be the first one on and off, they make flying much more of a pain in the arse than it should be.

I blame this more on the airlines. (Again, unless we're talking SW.)

Maybe because of worrying about overhead carry on space but Ive only had to gate check a carry on one time due to lack of space.

JetBlue FTW.

Board rows back to front. Creates much less headache when dealing with overhead space and the whole boarding process goes much smoother.

I'm sure more airlines do back to front first, but JetBlue is awesome.

putty, most flights aren't general admission. i have to fly on a lot of CRJ's. There isn't a first class. But I'm usually able to get seat 1-b.

I gate check my carry on.

I get on the plane with maybe a coke zero or bottle of water. last one on. first one off.

Because I've got carry-on that I don't want to risk checking. Anyone who doesn't understand why people do this don't travel much.

Get on, get your stuff stashed and dig into that dictionary-sized George R. R. Martin book.

Seriously, I've flown 1 time in 4 years and I don't miss any of the flying I didn't do. However, being on the plane is the least of my worries - it's everything they frick up or screw you on before and after you're on the plane that is my issue.
