It doesn't say, but that's a good point. Center vs shoulder could make a 1.5 foot difference and that could be the difference between the kind of traffic Gtothemoney is talking about or not.

Does it really matter if it's contested vs uncontested anyway? If he's securing the ball to give us possession IDGAF who's contesting it. There are nine other players in the half court regardless

I just watch the games. I'm not a advanced stats dude. When I am watching Asik rebound, if He. Is boxing out a defender, even if the dude is 6" shorter than him, it is 50-50 if Asik comes down with it. And if he does, it's another 50-50 if he gets stripped.

I just don't like that Shrek looking mother fricker.

That just isn't true. He makes contested rebounds look easy because guys can't get around him. AD looks like the best rebounder in the world when he grabs a contested rebound because he is too small to shield guys out. Has to out jump them and snatch it using incredible body control.

It does seem like the argument is "Asik should be averaging 16 rebs per 36, not 14. He's clearly not as good as you guys are saying he is."

I will say I don't think it has anything to do with his hand strength. When he palms the ball, it looks like he's holding a semi-soft.

Has nothing to do with hand strength. His hands are big since he is a big person. If he improves his hand strength he wouldn't lose the ball so easily because he would be able to dominate it more instead of fumbling it away. I hope I am making sense.

Great work here. You the man.

Side note, Gasol's numbers in the chart are insane. He is such a good player.

No one is disputing him being able to rebound or protect the rim. What most people can't stand is how he has the hand-eye of a 6 year old and is dreadful offensively

Yes they are, they are complaining about the 2 or so rebounds per game that he should have but can't quite pull in. He is clumsy and that does lead to turnovers and missed rebounds, but his turnover rate looks like it's near the top of his peer group, the same as his rebound rate. His ability to finish at the rim is a problem, but part of that is because he's been asked to do more than he's capable of. The most frustrating games from him he's essentially been a 3rd option on offense when he should always be 5th.

As much as Asik drives me nuts at times, I will say this of him in hindsight:

1. He has played and started 34 of 38 games*.
2. Although his scoring isn't where we would like it, he is fairly consistent.
3. Rebounding is there pretty much every night.

In preparation for games, it really helps out a lot knowing what you'll get from one or more of your guys. We just need progressive improvement and we'll be satisfied with him.

He missed a few weeks with that back injury.

But I ageee. If we can lock him down for 4/40-45 in the offseason that would be an amazing deal with the cap rising. Would be equivalent to what we now think of as around 8 mil per.

Again, how does one rank at the top of the league in rebounding with the coordination of a 6 yo?

The same people hating on Asik are probably the same ones who think drew Bree's is done. People get hung up on the mistakes they make without taking in the big picture. A

He's top 5 in rebound rate. I'm sure he fumbles and misses a rebound here on there every game, but I rather him miss that one or two than be dominated all game

I have been very impressed with Omer's passing this year. He can make some creative passes. Those hands tho....

BTW guys, z on c - one of my coworkers, told me that c on z just managed to get him banned. He wanted me to post that on here.

He wasn't god awful offensively tonight. He made some nice passes and hit FTs(which have been much better)

I'll take this asik anyday

Yeah I agree. I wish this Asik would show up more often. It still aggravates me when he goes up to the basket just to lose the ball most of the time though. Oh well.

Put asik on the jugs at the Saints facility. He literally should do nothing but that all offseason.

I watched the game for about 2 minutes and sure enough I saw Asik claim an offensive rebound, then tard out and immediately fumble the ball away to Detroit
