I took a yellow cab to the game because there was no availability in my area due to me being a little further from campus and there was a 6X surcharge. But I did take it back from the game.

So when I left the stadium I immediately got on the app to find a car and I was quickly connected to a guy at no surge pricing. About a minute later it says my trip has been cancelled. So I re do the search this time with 2X surge and I connect with a woman and a minute later she cancels! So I search again with a 3X surge and the original guy connects with me and finally picks me up. My total ended up being 90+ dollars. So I wrote an email to Uber about how their drivers were purposely canceling rides to make the price go higher and they refunded me the difference between the regular and the surge which I thought was great customer service.

I write all this just as a warning to everyone because what they were doing is crap and against their policies so just be on the lookout and make sure they aren't trying to screw you.

arguably the best thing about uber is the customer service.

make sure you complain when service is bad, and you praise them when you get outstanding service

You should have gotten Kenny Hilliard to throw you to your destination.

Where exactly were you requesting the ride? What area?

I used Uber in BR 2 weeks and no problems whatsoever. Both drivers were to me in less than 5 minutes, both were quite nice, and the price was $8 for about a 12 minute ride.

Not bad at all.

ETA: no home game was going on either though

IMO asking for a cab in that situation should cost you 90+. Someone cannot make any profit doing that and only being able to take very very few fares.

are you saying it went from no surcharge to 2x to 3x in a matter of minutes? That doesnt make a ton of sense.

must have been pretty late. they cant pick up around the stadium after the game because of contraflow.

You can get to the LSU tennis court area from off campus.

Just playing devil's advocate, the ones that cancelled probably could not get to you from where they were with contraflow...when I requested a ride a message popped up warning me of this and suggested I walk to one of two staging areas that would make it easier to be picked up

Not knocking your legit complaint about the cancellations, but that seems really dumb to try and request an uber near the stadium immediately after the game.

$90 actually seems reasonable

Honestly I didn't care about the price, but I have never seen drivers purposely cancel and thus creating false "demand".

There were 100,000 people trying to get off of campus at the same time, but I'm sure your uber drivers put them all there as a scheme to make money.

Couldn't disagree more. The whole point of Uber is supposed to be that supply and demand drive pricing. If the accusation that drivers are manipulating pricing is true, this is a HUGE problem for the system. I pretty sure it will be addressed with the quickness through controls on their app though. No way corporate lets a few drivers kill their golden goose.
