There needs to be some middle ground here. All this "ohh it's the free market" bullshite is gonna drive Uber into the ground in Baton Rouge.

Yeah, the surge pricing is horseshite. Last time I rode Uber, it was $35 dollars to go 2 miles.

I could have gotten halfway to New Orleans in a cab for that.

That's what I got Saturday night trying to leave Tigerland around midnight and I was just going to Capital Heights. I was at Fred's 5 minutes and just knew that if I stayed that yesterday would have been a rough day. Decided to just try to walk instead. Got to the LSU lakes on Stanford and there was no traffic anymore so I called my wife to come pick me up as I was too exhausted to walk any further.

Yeah, we walked from Stadium to Fred's..stayed at Fred's an hour.. then to Mellow Mushroom.. then to LSU Avenue/Lakes.

Had a 71 year old with us for all of this.

You folks are acting like Uber is a public service subsidized by the government using tax payer money...what the hell did you guys do before Uber? If you don't want to pay whatever surge is taking place, do whatever you did before Uber came along.

But people are using it despite the surge pricing. If people stop using it, they will change their pricing system.

More drivers in town would probably help a lot.

One of my friends was charged $56 to get to the stadium from downtown and the ride back cost $107.

Another couple was charged $148 on friday night to go from Mestizo's to their hotel on siegan. And couldn't find a uber ride at all saturday morning at 9am to take them to the stadium so they called a cab. After the game they abandoned hope of cabs and uber and tried to hitchhike. Coach Pevato picked them up and brought them to the hotel. Good man!

To the OP, did you respond to the email you received with your receipt? or take a different customer service to get this refund because the same thing happened to me.

$105 for a 14 minute ride....

Not only is there common sense, but it tells you about 4 times before you can request an Uber ride how much the surge is going to be...not only does it tell you the surge amount and what the rates are per mile and minure...you also have to manually enter the surge amount on a confirmation screen to make sure you understand there is a surge.

You had two drivers cancel on you while there was no surge?

What is the justification for charging 6 times the normal rate?

Now lets think about this: Who uses Uber?

Sure this is legal and drunks should be more responsible but it's a credit card. And drunk people are very susceptible to the "out of sight out of mind" and "worry about it tomorrow" motto. It's no doubt a shitty way to extort money from a 'demographic'.

Now remember when Apple let that Smurfberries shitshow happen until enough backlash from parents?

Sure drunks are minority compared to parents of kids inadvertently buying $100 worth of shite in a game mere seconds after mama enters in her appleID, but just cuz it's legal don't make it right. This will not turn out good for UBER unless they fix this predatory model.

No motherfricker. DRUNK people will pay it.
That's what's going to bite them in the arse b/c, just like Apple and it's Smurfberries did a 180 and refunded the shite out of people then they started complaining, they'll have to fix this.

The whole damned sector is FUBAR.

Let's just up the bac to .13 in the city limits and let people drive a little more buzzed.

That's progressive thinking.
