I think it's me who needs to get it rewritten.

it's not that i'm laughing at cancer
i laugh at silly tricks authors/writers use...and how i know exactly the manipulation they're attempting

I will watch chick stuff if she watches walking dead and game of thrones

I watch walking dead and game of thrones. He hasn't even watched game of thrones yet.
The only thing I refuse to go watch is Dumb and Dumber 2. I just will not do it.

I couldn't fight the tears back when my grandmaw walked to my grandpas casket and kissed him one last time. After over 60 years of marriage.

If I'm really into a movie or think of something really sad my eyes water a bit.

Earlier this summer. I found out this kid that I know was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
Posted on 10/19/14 at 12:49 pm to Hazelnut
My sister-in-law committed suicide (forgot about that, actually). I felt badly for my brother and their 2 young kids, but I never even came close to crying, not even in private. Different people I know have been diagnosed with cancer, close uncle died, grandparents died, great aunt that I lived with died, and not once did I come close to crying, not even in private.
But I'll be damned if certain movies don't get me every time when I am by myself. However, something takes over and prevents me from being too emotionally vested when I am in the same room as someone else, even a close family member.

I'm kind of that way, but I really like movies, too. It's the decision thing I struggle with so if she picks something (rarely) I just go with it

I'm on the life and disability insurance side. Riveting stuff, I tell you. But it pays the bills and I like what I do so I can't complain!
Anything else new with you other than a heavier left hand?

Two months ago good friends of ours 19 year old son was found dead. That funeral was the worst thing I think I've been through. I was a mess for 2 hrs, visitation plus funeral. Friend of mine, the dad, got up to talk and I freakin lost it. Horrible.

2. Gooossseee
3. Rudy.
That's it. If you are a man that's the only time you can cry.

I cried in the arms of my future wife in August a few days after my uncle died.

Just remembered when I had my last very public cry.
I had to write something about my daughter at her sorority's presentation, and then it was read as she and I walked down this long aisle. Since the OP mentioned himself crying at the birth of his child, I thought he may appreciate this.
I held it together pretty well - not all the way mind you - while walking down that aisle while the chick on the mic was reading it, but I had a private moment in that country club bathroom when I'd finished.
Here's what I wrote
Dear ________:
As your mother and I sit in the audience before you, we are once again witnessing another stage in your transition from that precious and only child given to us a little over 18 years ago, to the young woman that you’ve become. As you know, your mother worked tirelessly to see that you arrived on this Earth healthy, and to date, it’s been the best and most rewarding of any effort that she’s ever made. ________, you are God’s perfect answer to what was apparently a perfect prayer.
We were told that parenting was difficult, but honestly, that’s never been the case with you. You’ve always made good decisions, always stayed focused on the task in front of you, always done what was right, and have literally never disappointed us in any way. Never. Although both of us have been blessed in other areas of our lives, when we count those blessings, there’s you, then everything else. Not one good thing that has ever happened to either of us that comes close to comparing to you, and you are a daily reminder that at least once, we did something completely right.
__________, it is our hope that you continue to pursue your college and sorority life in the same manner that you’ve pursued everything else – by listening to God’s whispers, practicing wisdom beyond your years, making your own informed decisions, and remaining loyal, true, and loving to God, yourself, and those that love and emotionally invest in you.
We are so proud of you and love you very much! ______ will be as blessed in sisterhood as we are in parenthood.
Mom and Dad
Not sure why it made me cry so much. She's been a dream child, and watching her enter a sorority would have been her "natural progression", per me I guess. Secretly, most dads in the south would want their daughters to be smart, pretty, cheerleaders/sorority girls. She's all that/been all that. It's just sad watching "your little girl" grow up.
Downvote away/don't care. It made me cry then, and made me tear up reading it again now. Again, I can't explain why.

July 2012. The day my best friend died and a few days later at his funeral when I saw his brother and mom.
