They also live in Venezuela, so that's the other side of the coin.

I'd rather pay $3.50 per gallon and live in the US than pay $ 0.06 per gallon and live in Venezuela.

They have routine shortages of almost every other good (due to price-fixing), so it would not surprise me if $.06 a gallon gas is also hard to come by.

They recently instituted a policy of fingerprinting shoppers so that no one buys too much.

Damn. I could go there, buy a lot, come back and sell it. Those are cocaine profit margins right there.

Chavez wrongfully imprisoned a very close friend of mine's brother and brutally tortured him for years. His son now is the founder/president of this organization

Venezuela is one of the most brutal/tyrannical dictatorships on the planet. Do some research

It helps when the government steals a multi-billion dollar facility to produce oil.

I work with 8 Venezuelans. Every last one of them are trying to get out of the country. Gas prices never come up in the conversations.

ETA - They always bring me bottles of the best rums I've ever tasted which cost on average $5 per bottle. So they have that going for them.

Gas prices are over $10/gal in Norway. I'd rather live in Norway than Venezuela.
