Yea, he was out of coaching. I wonder if Moreau (Jesuit's AD who was the baseball coach when Songy was the football coach in the mid 90s) needed someone in a pinch to fill in for this year. Or will this be a permanent gig?

I think it's the short term solution. Songy was also doing the radio broadcast for games.

And the rest of the district and the state rejoices...

Yep. A friend of mine was telling me that schools in the NOLA area like the Jesuit should be dominating football year after year. A huge population base, large alumni base with plenty of money, large boys only school, no attendance zones.

I don't really think the rest of the state cares who the Jesuit coach is or isnt

They should... Might not be talked about like Crutchfield, but they get some recruits there.

quote:I dont think so. Catholic BR and Rummel were damn near identical in that time period. The best of the privates at that time with college talent on both teams. And playing WM was never never fun for CHS
the late 90s early 2000 Rummel teams would have played WM tough
ETA: Seeing Rummel finally win state gives me hope CHS can maybe do it one day

I was at BM during Songy's stint as a Head Coach. I wasn't very impressed with his abilities as a HC. Good luck to the Blue Jays.

they were close, but Rummel had really good OL and DLs. Im talking SEC caliber players.

Since 2011 one school has spent time in the national top 100, another had the nation's top recruit, and a third actually won two state titles...
