Could say the same thing about Jesuit from 96-98

Maybe if they had a decent center they would have made it past the semis.

Ok, just finished my research.... Catholic League teams haven't beaten WM or Evangel since 2000.... The average score is one sided to say the least. I will give it to Jesuit and Rummel for being tough teams but the rest of the league was just well coached at best.

Got pretty lucky to get by CLHS in the 96-97 season.

WM beat Jesuit in the 97 semis handily. First hand knowledge of that one, I started on the o-line for Jesuit that year.

you wouldn't agree that they get more coverage than the northshore district?

They should run to the Northshore and grab Hank Tierney

Hank Tierney's offense isn't working there. If they were to look to the Northshore you would have to go Guy LeCompte. Similar types of players.

Anyone at Jesuit remember Coach Hrapmann? He was there about 10 years ago, not sure if he still is there.

He had a screechy voice, looked like Mr. Clean and called kids "dumbass" and "douchebag". He played for Northwestern St back in the day and his claim to fame was that he picked off Terry Bradshaw

I had him for PE sophomore year at Jesuit. He had a high-pitched, squeaky Chalmation accent. And he used to threaten everyone with 5-day PH's all of the time.

"I'll tell you what. You wanna be a smawwwt arse? How's this sound......Faaaahve day!!!"

I have been surprised that Tierny has not done better than he has since he has been at Ponchy.

He did very well at Shaw.

Only a very few teams in Louisiana had success against WM in the last 20 years. Evangel had the biggest success and Acadiana has had some success agains WM.

Now that Coach Shows has passed on, its going to be interesting to see if Coach Arledge can keep the magic going on at West Monroe.

Why were they a bad matchup? Both played similar styles.

they've only played once. And it wasn't even a very good Rummel team despite going to the dome.

the late 90s early 2000 Rummel teams would have played WM tough. They had tons of "men" on those teams, not little boys like the team WM actually played in 2009 or 2010.

No, they weren't equipped to play college-like offense like Evangel, who in my opinion were the best HS teams this state has ever seen. West Monroe couldnt beat them either. But i think Rummel and WM would have played close games then. Rummel finished 2nd in the sportswriters poll like 3-4 years in a row back then
