(ISDS 705) I see professors note that you have to schedule your exam in advance (72 Hours), lets say if you miss the bus and when you try to book the exam and don't have any time slot available during evenings is there anything that can be done to adjust other than work hours.

Also if a live person is watching our screen, are we allowed to open the PDF for referring the Q&A.

Aurebelman, i was wondering the same thing. This reading that is 12 pages long (OLTP Throught the looking glass) is a slug to read and a lot of extra information that is not related to the text. I was hoping none of this stuff was on the test and just supplemental reading.

I believe it was timed but I do remember that the end test was exactly what you do in the assignment the numbers will not be different. Just make sure you are confident in the problems and your answers to the problems. The qualitative questions were the most difficult to me.

Took it this afternoon and can confirm it was not timed. I somehow managed to miss one question though...

From what I have read here, for the ISDS705 exam You can have your PDF open and refer to it while you take the exam.

I do wonder if I can take the exam on my computer with multiple monitors. I mean if its open book why not, right.

In his 'notes about the exam' he specifies that you can use multiply monitors. Basically, the only thing you can't do is have someone there to help you, it seems.

Thank you for your response. When you turn it into Turnitin, do you include your references at the bottom of the paper? I submitted it and did not include the reference just for the turnit in part.

For ISDS in his about the test section he specifically mentions that students can use the book and any notes they have. He also says the proctors are aware of this policy. Besides using multiple monitors he also stated that we are allowed to use a PDF version of the book.

Winchester is correct - literally everything but the kitchen sink is allowed for the ISDS exams. If you're uncomfortable just email Dr. Lin. That's what I did when I first started the class. He replied very quickly and was very nice.

RE ISDS 705, my understanding is that we can use multiple monitors but not multiple computers. As in, you can't take the test on your laptop and have the book open on your desktop computer. I found this a little confusing since it seems okay to have the book open on a tablet (so why not another computer?) Someone please correct me if I'm reading this wrong. I'll probably seek clarification from Dr. Lin before testing if there's any remaining confusion.

Aurebelman and Tigerdroppings:

RE: ECON Assessment, one of the open ended questions has no right answer because all of the answers options are either logically flawed or factually incorrect. So, some people are going to get it right because they guessed right among the least flawed answers or don't know enough to get it wrong (go figure) and some will get it wrong when they know the material and have contemplated the topic adequately. I hate it when test questions are flawed.

Hey everyone, new poster, I am starting the MBA program and my first class. I am taking ISDS 705 with Dr. Lin. Ive been reading your comments and have had a lot of the same questions. Being in Tennessee it makes it hard to communicate with my classmates so I guess Ill resort to this message board. Sorry if this has already been answered, I just feel lost, this being my first graduate course. How many hours did you all put in for this class, and since the tests are proctored but open note/book did you find that helpful on Lin's tests. Also how do I post without commenting on someone else? Just an original post. Thanks for the help.

MADM752:

It seems this is back to something closer to the original course and not the boondoggle everyone described the last time this class ran.

We're just one week in, but the general format is:
* ongoing assignment to interview and develop a profile for a family business
* read a couple of textbook chapters (provided/no cost)
* watch a handful of short videos from various sources (30 min or so)
* listen to some short lectures from the professor (10-15min)
* 500 word APA format assignment pulling together the week's topics
* proctored quiz (proctorio) on everything (chapters, videos, lectures, etc.) Fairly easy and straight forward, but you need to know all the material.

Hi Everyone,

When we take the ISDS705 test, should we go to our ProctorU account or Moodle first?

ISDS 705; What are we suppose to take from the extra reading assignments. So far in Module 1 OLTP through the looking glass is way more in depth than anything in chapters 2 and 3. To the point it seems Irrelevant to our testing. For those in class now how are yall approaching this and for those who have taken the class is this information on the tests?

In ISDS 705 can we have all of our digital notes up on the page or do we need to minimize and just open them as we need them?

Also how do we go about getting a pdf version of the book if I have the e-textbook?

I’m sure this is a bit late for you unfortunately, but for future 760 takers, I was able to find the Playing to Win book and audiobook at my local library.

If you go back just a few pages on this thread (starting on 178), all these recent ISDS 705 questions have already been asked and answered.
