What an amazing win in Death Valley vs Bama last Saturday night. That game will be remembered for a very long time!

Looks like it's the end of the line for what has been an amazing thread. Last post before this one was back in May.
Helped me immensely in navigating the LSUS MBA program.

Congrats on the 40% pay increase. Sounds like the $12,500 tuition investment had a great return!

This thread has had a great long run, but it looks like the party's over. The thread was started before there was an LSUS MBA Facebook Group. Now it appears people have migrated over there.
I just want to thank the thread originator and all those that contributed. It helped me immensely while I was in the program from 2016-17. Made some lifelong friends on this thread.

Yes, AACSB carries weight since only 5% of universities with business departments hold this accreditation.

Looks like this thread has lost its mojo. No posts in the last 6 weeks.

Online degrees from both the main Baton Rouge campus and the Shreveport campus are now being marketed together on the main LSU website.

Long time lurker, first-time poster.
Has anyone had difficulty transferring in courses? The program I was going to pursue (Ok State, where I live) required leveling courses for Finance and Accounting so I applied to LSUS to avoid taking leveling courses(leveling courses suggested but not required @ LSUS). I can transfer my courses back to Ok State but I am considering just finishing at LSUS (cheaper tuition, easier courses, more summer courses, etc). The LSUS Graduate Catalog says LSUS accepts 6 hours as long as they are from an AACSB institution. When I mentioned this to a person I recently spoke with at LSUS, I was told no transfer courses are allowed. Was she mistaken?
If that's the case, I will just take the "hard courses" at LSUS (Finance, Accounting and Economics) and transfer those hours back to Ok State.
Would love to know if anyone else has dealt with this scenario. Have you guys transferred hours to LSUS?
Hi Indio Oats, you will probably get a much faster response if you go to the Facebook page for the LSUS MBA program. It's become much more active than this thread.

It's amazing that this thread is still rocking...I have had my MBA for over 5 years now and I started this thread, just looking for any experiences with the school.
Great program, BTW.
I want to personally thank you for starting this thread. I found it in the summer of 2016. It was tremendously helpful to me as I went through the program and graduated at the end of 2017. More recently the Facebook groups were started so this thread slowed down but still has life.

If you are looking for a program where you can slide by, the LSUS MBA Program is not the program for you. While LSUS is probably not the most intensive program in the world, it requires significant time, focus, and commitment.
Specifically regarding tests, almost every test or quiz I have taken has been through Proctor U and is monitored in real time via webcam. I have used Proctor U for over 50 exams/quizzes at this point (80% complete with MBA) and have not had any significant issues with Proctor U. It's fairly easy to use. Almost all exams will require you to study. Some exams are difficult, others are seemingly easy.
If you think you can log in on the computer once a week for 10 months and walk away with an MBA for $13k, you're mistaken.
So glad you posted this. As a proud Alum I want this program to be rigorous and challenging. We want our LSUS MBA degree to mean something and be respected. Programs that are considered "easy" are also considered diploma mills and lose all respect. There's a reason LSUS maintains the AACSB accreditation.

Which is better LSUS MBA or WGU MBA?
Both are online, but I'll save about $4,000 taking the WGU route. They'll both take about the same amount of time.
WGU doesn't have the most respected AACSB accreditation. It also doesn't have the same image and status of the LSU system. I looked into WGU as well before choosing LSUS. They can't compete on image/respect and accreditation.

The President of the University of Texas-Arlington was forced to resign yesterday due to a scandal with the third-party online program manager (OPM) "Academic Partnerships. The reason I wanted to share this on here is that LSUS also uses Academic Partnerships to manage their online program. I'm concerned about our LSUS program getting affected by this bad publicity. Read the article and share your thoughts.

Personally, my goal is to have the MBA title. Honestly, you can learn absolutely all of the topics by reading The 10-Day MBA book. It'll take you at most 10 days, but then all you have is the knowledge, but nothing that anyone can verify from a cursory glance at your resume. I've owned my own (quite successful) IT consulting company for 20 years, but without an MBA, there are conversations that I've found that I'm excluded from. All of the material from the MBA can easily be obtained, but the actual title from an accredited school is what holds weight in many cases (in my opinion and experience).
Longhornedtiger, I just wanted to say I related very closely to your post. I've run a successful commercial real estate brokerage for over 12 years. I saw the MBA as an avenue to obtain more sophisticated corporate clients. I can happily say it has worked out as I had hoped.
The majority of these clients have MBAs and tend to show more respect for a broker who has made the same academic commitment.
In this world perception is reality, and having an MBA is a key part of the perception game in the business world.

Hi Gmoneypdx,
You'll be fine without taking the foundation courses. It had been 26 years since I'd earned my B.S. in Business Admin when I started this LSUS MBA program. However, I've been active in business like you have been and had minimal issues getting back up to speed.
Past students without a previous business degree or experience have posted that they did go ahead and take the foundation courses and wished they had saved the money, as they realized in hindsight that they weren't necessary.

PresJohnTyler,
I had a similar experience with Vines class. While I really liked him personally, I found myself lost often in his class.
