While I understand the enthusiasm for those earning their degrees (since I fall into that category), the screaming families seemed a bit over the top.
I've been through these type ceremonies before where a simple instruction like "save all the applause to the end" or at least a logical breaking point would have helped immensely.

Just got back from commencement. Here are my thoughts:
1) While invited to both BGS and SIE, I opted to join BGS. The induction ceremonies were jointly held. There were only 13 BGS inductees vs 34 SIE (although a large majority of BGS folks also joined SIE). The BGS inductees were given a certificate and a pin while the SIE inductees were given a certificate and a shaw to wear during commencement. I am unsure as to why there was a imbalance of people who joined BGS vs SIE ($90 vs $60, entry requirements?)
2) The induction ceremony was 40min long and I give it 7 out of 10 stars
3) The online brunch was from 10 to 12, a small goodie bag was given to each graduate while some video testimonials were played. I give this 7 out of 10 stars
4) The commencement itself was a full 2 hours with undergrad and grad students together. Nice keynote but a really long and drawn out production. There were tons of enthusiastic families yelling and shouting, often drowning out names of the next to be called. Overall a 6 out of 10 stars
5) The diploma itself is a puny 8.5 x 11, no logo and very unassuming. 5 out of 10 stars
I drove 5 hours each way to walk. I mainly did this to show my kids what hard work looks like and would recommend it if you would like to do the same. If its only you or just you and your spouse and you're further than 1hr away, get your diploma mailed to you.
I walk away from this program relived its over but with mixed emotions as to whether I made the right choice, not that I can change anything now.
The best of luck to you all in the rest of the program and in your future endeavors.
One last nana on my way out... :nana:
PS. met Dr. S, Dr. James, Dr. Darrat (both)

Just took my last exam of my LSUS career (M7 quiz with McLaughlin's MADM760).
I'm officially done, BGS + 4.0 and I'm walking on the 16th. Hope to see you in Shreveport!
BTW, taking McLaughlin's 760 was the best move I think I've done (well maybe taking Lin's 705 before it became a real class was another).
Congrats to all who are done with me! :nana:

Has anyone received BGS induction ceremony details yet? We are two weeks out and nothing. I sent Dr. Darrat a note a week back and he said something would be sent out "in the coming days".

I am not taking it. I am done. Not doing anything else.
If there are no repercussions for not taking this exam then why would anyone take this exam after the fact? They didn't do a great job in framing out why they are asking this from us. If its merely a tool to improve then why have it proctored? If its an AACSB requirement, then why not explicitly state that? The latter would make me more inclined to participate only because I value that accreditation maybe more so than they do.

Have you taken it yet?
Not yet. I'm going to take it after the 16th when I have that paper in hand. I'm not taking any chances...

I feel like I've been living in the LSUS version of an M. Night Shyamalan movie the past 5 weeks. I'm so glad this is over.
That's the point, I thought this was over, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Honestly I'm not surprised, the last exam is representative of the program as a whole, cobbled together and disorganized.

Yeah, I just got that too.
Exactly why do I have to take a proctored exam that isn't graded and doesn't affect my GPA or graduation status?
I'm assuming its AACSB hoops you need to jump through. I don't remember what I had for breakfast, I'm probably not going to do all that well on this exam. I want to do well since AACSB is one of the main reasons I went to LSUS and if that goes away I'll probably circular file my diploma.

I just got an email from the MBA program telling me I need to take a 35 question Proctorio proctored end of program exam as part of their AACSB accreditation. While this is not a "test" as they put it (wont impact GPA, graduation or anything) I wonder what the content will be like. Hoping its not ISDS705 heavy! Anyone else get this email?

Hmm. I notice McLaughlin now has a section of MADM 701. Anyone ever take it with her? I'm really pretty pleased with the excellent pacing and reasonable course load of her MADM 760, so I'm seriously thinking of taking it with her instead of Heller.
I just don't want to choose her section only to find out it's set up totally different than 760, lol. Unfortunately she isn't interactive, but I frankly don't have a ton of time to waste on a ton of useless writing. Her MADM 760 writing demands appear to be more about quality than quantity... as long as you don't mess up your citations... lol.
I'd roll that dice. I had Williams for MADM701 and got not interactive with a crap ton of busy work.
MADM760 with McLaughlin has been a good class. No real surprises and she's curved when there were. Her format is level and right sized. You just lose the collaborative aspect of working with classmates (that's fine with me given my experiences teaming up with people who write at a 3rd grade level) and the interactive nature that some profs bring.
Now I just wish my coach posts M6 grades so I can gauge on how much I need to study for the M7 quiz.

2 of the questions were definitely the same. I bombed this test. Her questions made no sense.
I had 2 questions the same as well. I didn't find the test itself particularly difficult though.
I've gotten the same exact score on all 5 quizzes

I didnt notice it closing early. DId it get fixed?
Also, did you take M5? There seemed to be an issue with two of the questions being exactly the same. I wonder if she noticed that.
It got fixed and she gave an extension until Wed due to the issue. I haven't taken M5's exam yet but have noticed previous tests having very similar questions, just worded differently, haven't had identical questions yet.

The MORE amazing thing however, is that the discussion post is working from Day -2. When there's only 2 days to post, they can't get it to work until like 12 hours before it's due but when there's more than 4 days? No problem!
At the expense of M4's quiz closing 12hrs early. Getting very frustrated with the Moodle issues with this class. Not sure if its IT related or cockpit error, leaning toward the latter.
EDIT: LOL, I can take M5's quiz, its open already!

Anyone else in McLaughlin's 760 that got greeted with a closed quiz this morning? That's right, the quiz was set to close at 11am instead of 11pm. I was all set to take the exam and then bam.

I agree, Mclaughlin, I believe, is teaching at too many other schools at the same time.
If the posts are due by Tues. then she should have them up Sunday night.
To be honest, LSUS IT should have created a bot that automatically opens the forum at the correct time. Having the class scratching there head way into Tuesday is unacceptable, especially since many brought it to her attention on Monday but maybe that goes back to your point of her being distracted. 3 weeks!

and i am completely embarrassed to say this, but have nobody else to tell that would really care or know what i was talking about.
i bombed the lin ISDS 705 test last week and got a 70. i am in disbelief.
It takes a big man to admit something like this, kudos. Now that we're sharing, this reminds me of a time in undergrad where I took one of the "easy A" classes, the history of rock and roll, and yes landed a B. So you see, you're not the only one who's botched what should have been an easy A.
I would like to say, I am very thankful I took Lin's 705 before it became a "real" class. This whole note sheet printed with 8pt helvetica narrow thing is just too much...

They would have been if they hadn't gone belly up, just the way this program is heading...fitting reference though on many levels, kudos.

Now if McLaughlin will allow us to post our mini discussion, things will be right with the world again. The rubric is very strict and she tells everyone their initial post must be by Tuesday, its Monday night and she has yet to open up the forum to allow posting.
It must be short timers syndrome because I haven't little patience for this crap at 3.5 weeks from the finish line.
It the rate of these epic f ups and with my luck their accreditation will be pulled in week 7 of AP2.
