@signa7, how was your group project experience in Meeks course?
I took Meeks for MADM760 and MADM751. I had a great group experience each time. For each class we had group members across all time zones. The biggest challenge was finding a day and time each week to meet. For an hour or sometimes 2 each meeting. It is all in what you put into it. The first week is the most difficult, because your forming communications and meeting your team for the first time. For 760 I had a great group from start to finish without any major problems. We would meet every Thursday at 730 central. This worked for everyone across all time zones and we hit it off from the start. My group for 751 was different at the beginning. We had one member not communicate until the 7th day of class and missed our 1st group meeting as well as another member who was absent until the 5th day. We had difficulty committing to a specific day and time each week because one member worked evening shifts. We were able to work out a solution each week after the first week. We assigned a leader each week that was responsible for communicating with each member by Sunday and setting a day and time to meet no later than Thursday night each week. We communicated through text because it was the preferred method that people would see anytime of the day. Each group I was in had a slacker and we made sure we evaluated them as such in our group scores each week. Dr. Meeks can also tell the slackers by their personal work they turn in, so do not get caught up in what other group members are not doing just make sure you properly evaluate everyone and get the work done. Overall I liked the group and we stayed in contact after the class and some of us still talk.

Thanks for the reply DieDaily. I enjoyed Meeks in my previous class, so 751 might be the right choice.
thanks
I took Meeks 751 in Summer AP2 it is structured identical to his 760 class minus the weekly test. It is not as interesting of a class to me, but that may be because I liked strategic management so much. Easy A if you do the work. I would recommend 751 as an elective.

Just took the second exam, did better than the first but it still had some questions that came out of left field. Absolutely no way to prepare for that.
I completely agree, I pulled an low B which I am extremely disappointed in. I luckily scored a high A on the first exam. There were several questions that were not in the PPT beyond a shadow of a doubt. I emailed the professor about them and he said he would take a look but does not issue credit on individual test but at times does at the end to the total score. Mind blowing that you can issue a test with questions that are not presented in any review material. I actually have a member of a groupme that said they made a 100 on the second test but admitted they got lucky guessing on several. Thank goodness I have a great TA and my papers and discussions are keeping my A

My plan for the next exam is to type out all definitions in the reading in my own words into a Word doc. Then I can pull info from that document, paste into the exam, and reword/rework the definitions as needed.
I wasted a lot of time putting everything into my own words. Hoping by doing it this way, I'll save a little time.
This is exactly what I did when I had Vines and it was the best thing i could have done. Every concept, definition or topic in his review guide I would put in my own words. I broke his review guide down like an outline and would leave his words and under in different color font I would write mine. I was able to copy and paste for majority of my question . I did all equations that way also and when I had a quantitative problem my first step was copy and pasting the correct formula because he gives so much partial credit
@DieDaily- The class he taught last year complained about the test because some had questions that were not in the slides. The test must be from the book and I am sure the slides miss some things. I always hate first test because of the unexpected.
@baroqen I spent one night on each discussion question(2 hours roughly). there is a 250 word minimum which I wrote around 500. Your are right, the sources are the hardest part but he has no minimum on sources so I imagine the number does not matter to him as long as you use them. The only thing that requires APA is the citation and the References. Being that it is a discussion post and not a word document you cant follow the other guidelines.
SO far the class seems manageable and I hope it does not change. Aside from ISDS705 with Lin this is my easiest first week of a class in the program and I am 9 classes in. I hope it stays this way.

Finishing up MADM 701 with Kungu. Pretty easy class. Counting on an A. Read, write, take exam.
Pretty straightforward. Compared to 760 with Meeks it is certainly less enlightening but I still learned a good bit.
I agree with you. I enjoyed the class with Kungu. The textbook and material was a drag. I also took 760 with Meeks before this class and it was by far more interesting. I did learn a lot with Kungu and his was always available. I was dreading MADM701 so glad I took it with him!

My discussion grade is in. Was docked for in-text citation listing author's last name instead of last name, first and middle initial. Guess I'll need to be more careful :-)
@Dilly Time. I thought the proper APA was only last name and date for in-text citation. The reference list must have all that you listed but in text citation should not as I understand it. Maybe I am wrong.

Im not having any troubles viewing them I was just hoping to be able to download a copy to use offline because I cannot access the site at work and like to read on my lunch breaks. Looks like he will post a PDF each module so I am not worried anymore.

@marssmi0827 I am in MADM701 with you. It does look straight forward. I wish there was a way to access the book in PDF offline. I have it downloaded with adobe digital creations but says it only last 1 day. The course does look straight forward surely there is more to it considering past reviews of the class,

I signed up for MKT705 in fall AP1. I have no clue about casino's. Ive seen other comments on this class is why i signed up for it. In your opinion is it a good elective. It will be my 9th class in the program when i get to it just like it was for you.

MADM 760 with Meeks is a great course. I enjoy the material and he provides a ton of videos and supplemental material. The class is an easy class with a good bit of writing. 4-5 chapters to read each week and some mandatory videos. An easy timed quiz with 5 questions that you can take up to 10 times, a skill builder with 7 question that i personally write around 3-4000 words for each week and a group PPT and Video. Good format and one of my favorite classes so far.

Sounds like its a professor problem. My last class ACCT701 with Ambrosio was good and so is 760 with Meeks.Vines was great in fall AP1 and of course Lin was easy in AP2. I do agree about the textbooks, the one for ACCT701 had a lot of errors but it did not affect his class but i can see how it would affect other classes. I have not taken Wren and now i will definitely try to avoid them.

Good Idea Jason, I will try that.
Im in 760 with Meeks this term and really like how the class is structured. How long does he usually take to grade the Team PPT/Videos and skill builders?

Cottonseed,
I read the case study also but have not started reading "Playing to Win". I just received it yesterday. I am just now getting on and see that he has posted several videos. I have watch all but 2 so far. I wish I would have gotten on earlier.

Is anyone else on here taking MADM760 with Meeks?

ACCT Ambrosio
Just finished the final exam and first time using Proctorio. Overall Proctorio was way better than ProctorU. However, it took forever for it to accept my webcam image due to lighting. I even had to go take my glasses off and put contacts in due to the glare from the screen. They had to be able to see my eyes. The online chat help was great and helped me resolve the issue. That software is sensitive. My camera is fixed to my screen so i could not escape the glare. As for the exam I finished with 2 minutes left. No surprises on the exam. Like he said, the practice exam is very similar, but I think the exam was more challenging on time because there are more quantitative questions. GOOD LUCK to all taking it today!

ACCT701 has been a good class but having to wait until Saturday to take the final exam is bothersome. I wish Ambrosio would open it earlier for those that are ready to take it. I like classes that give you a several day window to take the test. He explains that he keeps it to one day because people would take the test early in week and then sell or give the questions to classmates. I would imagine that was before proctoring.

It's been discussed in depth on here. My advice is to just read through the various pages of the thread or to use the search function under "Money Talk"
I have used this to search this forum for the last year. This forum has invaluable information. However, we have to remember that the program has changed. Classes change as well as instructors teaching styles. We need to answer these questions from a new prospective seeing as how some of the post are now outdated. There are 238 pages now. Its nice to hear what students that have recently taken the courses think. I would hate to direct new students to post from 18 months ago and the class has now changed. I just want to make sure we keep the thread current. Things have truly changed since fall AP1 started.
