he's banned for life, how are they not taking the team from him?
He will still be making money off of them, but can't participate in team management.

I agree 100% with Commissioner Silvers findings and the actions taken against Donald Sterling

Bucks were sold for way higher than most thought. Watch Sterling make bank off a bidding war

This will be in the courts until he dies.

i believe not paying fines specifically will violate the constitution and lead to a takeover/sale
If they're banning him for life aren't they moving towards taking the away from him anyway?
I'm really confused by this.

Behind the scenes, I'm sure there will be pressure.

I don't see how they're "banning" him from his privately-owned thing if, in fact, he didn't agree to that in his ownership contract.

This sets the bar really high for the league. What happens the next time a player says a homophobic remark or racist remark? Will the league maintain such a hard line stance and ban the player? Yeah most likely not.

He got what he deserved.

The press is racist.

So does this level of intolerance extend to players as well?

who cares? it's a private league, they can do whatever the want.
why do people care what private leagues/companies do?
I look at it from a property rights POV.
Right now, Tom Benson owns the Pelicans.
If he was to do something which was poor PR, but not illegal, enough people calling for his head could end up forcing a sale of the Pelicans.
And this is without doing anything illegal or on the boundaries thereof, like former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo getting tied up in an FBI sting or Browns owner Jimmy Haslem getting tied up in a kickback scandal involving his private business, Pilot Flying J truck stops.
Opening the door for something like this is extremely dangerous because of how it can be abused later.

One thing I've read that I found interesting is The Seattle group's role in all of this. They've been the highest bidder by a large chunk in the recent cases. If they highball everyone, what stance does the NBA have to block the sale? They obviously want this over as quick as possible.
