He will still be making money off of them, but can't participate in team management.

Correct. I'm curious what kind of power they have to force a sale.

This was a smart and necessary business move on Silver's part.

no. They can't make him sell the team. He would tell them to frick off, sue, and win

Wrong. They can attempt force him to sell but it will all be handled in the courtroom. The loophole will probably be upheld and then closed.

Sterling little cheerleaders on this board is really pathetic

there is like 1 guy being his "cheerleader"

the NBA should have suspended him a decade ago. this is by far the least serious of his racial offenses

the NBA is a bunch of sheep in wolves clothing right now and they just set a horrible precedent moving forward

Cuban, you coward. These are his previous comments:

quote:

#1 – On his views of Sterling’s comments: “What Donald said was wrong. It was abhorrent. There’s no place for racism in the NBA, any business I’m associated with, and I don’t want to be associated with people who have that position.”

#2 – On whether/how the NBA should respond: “I think you’ve got to be very, very careful when you start making blanket statements about what people say and think, as opposed to what they do. It’s a very, very slippery slope.”

#3 – On suggestions that the NBA should ban Sterling from the league: “If it’s about racism and we’re ready to kick people out of the league, OK? Then what about homophobia? What about somebody who doesn’t like a particular religion? What about somebody who’s anti-Semitic? What about a xenophobe?”

#4 – On what it all boils down to: “In this country, people are allowed to be morons.”

i bet you owners who didn't get in line were threatened with a similar punishment b/c it falls along the same line of PR
Except he didn't pull a 180 or say anything different from yesterday though.

Complete 180 from his comments yesterday. I wonder how the conversation went.

People are not even close to correct when they say this. He was against forcing someone to give up their property, not against sanctioning Sterling.
