This is all a function of the police state.

This tech is to monitor people for drunk/impaired driving and to allow LEO to "run your rap" every time you use your vehicle.

When you push for MADD-style DWI response and for things like cameras on every intersection, you're naturally going to have products like this come to market.

Good news is that consumers dictate the market and this could be something that kills sales. We see innovation like this crushed all the time by consumers

The idea of purchasing a vehicle with a camera you do not control within the cabin of said vehicle is batshit.

The current car market is wild.

They are already selling vehicles where the car’s functions are behind a paywall, and now this.

People still buy this crap too.

Is this real

I’ve been seeing that 2027 models have to have some kind of ai nanny system that can shut off the car

AI in your car will determine if you're sober and fit to drive, automatically turning off the vehicle if it determines you're a danger on the road.

Someone having/dealing with a medical emergency is going to be “acting erratically”, the car is going to shut off, and someone is going to die because of it.

Newest vehicle I have is from 2018. Probably won't buy another new one.

Considering the government is the one requiring auto makers implement this type of technology, good luck in the courts.

I think this is for fleet vehicles... the owner of said vehicles may very well appreciate it.

But... sure to be coming soon to the personal vehicle as well.

Have a ‘23 Canyon.

Will likely go much older on my next one.

I like my Canyon, but some of the newer versions and higher trims already have cameras in the cabin “to give the ability to view the backseat” and they promise it doesn’t record.

Mandated by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Congress is just trying to keep us safe!

I never expected manufacturers would be able to lock you out of vehicle features that you paid for unless you continue to pay them, but here we are.

That guy wants to be the automotive version of Adam Schefter.

If I were his Ford truck and I had to listen to his Yankee arse droning on and on and on, I’d lock all my windows and doors and burn myself up with him inside.

Other than this asshat claiming these cars do this, can anyone find any use cases of this actually happening? Some Google and chatGPT searches say this is not happening.

For Ford the F series sales driver has been fleet sales and sales to Government agencies for a longtime. This is a feature for fleet vehicles especially as companies try and manage insurance rates. I don't want this on my personal vehicle, but would 100% consider this as a pro when replacing some fleet vehicles.

The part about the vehicle listening to you and changing adds to better maximize monies is something Google, Apple, and Facebook among others are already doing.

We are the product and the Ford is just the monitor.

It's really not about safety. Your vehicle will deny a trip to whichever store that didn't cough up the %% of sales.

The government will have access to it and shut you down for not paying that parking ticket or toll fee.

My 2019 truck is looking better every day.
