They are all doing this unless something changes, it's not just Ford.

I think this is for fleet vehicles... the owner of said vehicles may very well appreciate it.
fleet vehicle insurance requires a driver monitoring system for certain types of vehicles/jobs
we use this one - Motive
so the manufacturers are just making the camera systems an option from the plant

This is all a function of the police state.
Similar to what John Deere has done....minus the police state part.
Tractor throws codes and only "licensed" JD technicians can decipher them.

You have evidence other than some dramatic bullshite video?
But this is why I drive a Dodge; it keeps me prepared to walk out at any time.

Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027

Show me some other reports on this instead of an X account with an AI video.
Seems odd, if true should be unconstitutional based on the fact your vehicle is an extension of your home... It would be like the government putting cameras in your house.

Other than this asshat claiming these cars do this, can anyone find any use cases of this actually happening? Some Google and chatGPT searches say this is not happening.
Uh, this is on the way, not yet here.... that should be pretty apparent.
Legislation kicks in in '27.

It's a federal government mandate, not a manufacturer specific thing. We should push back on it and just not buy the vehicles. They'll roll it back when their sales drop 50%.

They are not implementing it / requiring implementation as this thread implies.

Correct. Tesla gives you strikes, and Ford Blue Cruise, and GM Super Cruise are required to have the cameras

If you think this is new or specific to Ford, I have bad news for you.
IDK why the YouTubers decided to clickbait on Ford. As one example of many, Nippon Denso, one of the largest electronics suppliers in the world for the global industry (and they dominate in Japan of course) introduced the concept of monitoring the driver's physical health and mental state way back at CES in 2014 or thereabouts. Their concept was to transmit it to national healthcare entities rather than insurance companies, since most of the world was headed for state-owned healthcare at the time.

If you think it's only American automakers, I have bad news. The Euros and Japanese are even further along the curve on all of this. BMW was the first to try out the subscription model for options as well, didn't go well for them at all. See my other post too. Denso, the supplier for most Japanese car electronics, was working on monitoring you in the late aughts and introduced it to the public in the US at the Consumer Electronics Show over 10 years ago.
