This is easily Jay Johnson's worst coaching job in his tenure

Best coach on campus, but this is arguably the worst coaching job of the big 3 sports this year considering expectations . Kelly had a hurt QB, and McMahon lost his best player

What could possibly be Johnson's excuse this year?

He doesn’t have the best non-MLB pitcher in the world leading his weekend rotation. In five years he’s only had two good teams, and both times he had the best non-MLB pitcher in the world leading his weekend rotation.

Hope he gets more of those guys going forward

His handling of the pitching staff is very questionable, with his quick hook on replacing pitchers after 1 batter and/or 1 out! His analytics suck and he seems to have no gut feeling for making moves! Just my opinion...

You’re discrediting his coaching abilities and not looking past your nose. Yeah we are terrible this year, but there’s a whole body of work.

He took fricking Arizona to the CWS with no NIL. He can coach. The team hasn’t lived up to what ALL the pros thought they could be. Not just Jay. Everyone had our portal class as all world. They just failed to transition to big boy baseball.

Jay has learned his lesson and I’m confident he’s done with the Grand Canyon and High Point experiments.

I’m sick of people coming down on Jay like he’s smoke laval when the players have to perform.

He admitted he screwed up the roster in recruiting. If you saw his media session several days ago, he admitted this. At least the guy doesn't make excuses but for anyone to say he hasn't screwed the pooch this year is delusional and apparently is calling him a liar. Specifically, he said he was too concerned with bringing in power hitters.

Except we sucked when they played too. Time to admit Jay might not be what we thought.

This game was jinksed the second fatboy came up to pinch hit with the bases loaded.
I think Jay may think we get to draft higher if we lose more.

Does he coach plate discipline? If not, who does....he should be fired.
Carraway's K was emblematic of what we have watched all season. It just never seems to change.

I mean, Cooper Moore who was the best pitcher on the entire staff to the point he was injured was lost for the season. That's pretty big but I don't expect a casual to know something like that or just let that go by.

This guy has won 2 of the last 3 national championships and these threads keep coming up! I bet Arky would have loved to tank a year just to win one championship!

Maybe so. Because he allows Coach Y to call the dumbest 0-2 and 1-2 pitches over and over and over. I’d rather a wheel spin than what he calls.
