Did the Giants have their worst season in decades during those odd numbered years?

Then no
quote:

Down year is a down year.

Yeah because this team and the 2024 team that was an out from a Super Regional had the same type of season
You can't reason with the "it was just a down year" delusional pumpers

Jay doesn't need to be fired but something's absolutely wrong in the locker room

LSU baseball and Jay Johnson are allowed down years. LSU baseball should never be this god awful

I mean, a down year is a lot different than the product put on the field this year.

That was sarcasm, brother. I'm mocking the tards who act like this abomination of a season and the 2024 team could be lumped together.

Simply a down year

Totally the same as the 2024 season where we were an inning away from a Super Regional

Jay Johnson won 2 of the last 3 national championships

Stop complaining he can't find a pitcher that can throw strikes

re: Warm Seat for Jay Johnson

Posted by Bodie on 5/14/26 at 9:11 pm to
I would not say he's on the hot seat whatsoever. He still won 2 of the last 3

But you'd have to be completely delusional to say the temperature of the seat didn't go up like 5 degrees

How the frick do you field a LSU baseball team this bad that STILL looks like dogshit in the literal last weekend series ?
quote:

A down year is having to travel for a regional.

This is inexcusable.

Have no idea why posters lump this season and that 2024 team like they had the same type of season

I've never seen a LSU baseball look like they've never played baseball

Dont worry, so many are satisfied that a month ago Jay said he made some mistakes in roster management. It doesn't matter that the fundamentals of baseball are simply not taught with this team. Can't throw stirkes, can't block balls behind the plate, can't run the bases well, can't position our defense in advantageous spots

Thank you for putting into words what I've tried to say

Tired of posters saying this just a "down year". 2024 is a down year

This team looks like they quite literally have never played the sport of baseball, and it's the fricking month of May. It's inexcusable

We don't call ourselves the powerhouse of college football
quote:

finished 5th in sec and didn't make it out of a regional

You think that season and this season is comparable?
LSU baseball should never be this atrocious

A down year is one thing

This is not that
quote:

He has shown he does his best work after a disappointing season

He did that one time

Not saying he can't bounce back next year, but where is this "We Win A Natty After a Bad Year" narrative coming from? It's happened a grand total of one time

Also, we had a lot to build on that 2024 season when we started playing good ball and were one Jake Brown catch from a super regional. What the hell do you to build from this year?
Posters on here will sit there and tell you this season and the 2024 season, which was a Brown error away from a SR, should both be classified in the same file as "Down Year"
quote:

I would totally be with them if he won 1 Natty in 10 seasons,

I mean, it definitely depends on what happens in those other 9 seasons

If they get put out in regionals, super regionals, and Omaha , sure

But multiple seasons like this one? Hell no

Which Jay hasn't had multiple seasons like this one yet, but I don't know how one looks at this roster and thinks we're gonna miraculously make a 180. These freshmen aren't like past freshmen obviously.

We talking about the coach who brought Arizona to the CWS twice with a championship series appearance?

Why does everyone on this board act like Arizona is some bottom feeder baseball program that Jay Johnson made a household name?

They literally have the 6th most NCAA tournament appearances of any program
quote:

So is Jay Johnson

Agreed

Wild to say next year is a big for Johnson's job security coming off a NC last year, but there's not a chance in hell we can have a season like this next season
Not sure how you can say either indicates the truth

Elite or rock bottom

Both extremes
quote:

Nah, that was significantly worse. LSU was getting its doors blown off and looked horrendous. The head coach couldn't have given less of a frick either.

You had players quitting before the season even started because they saw what Orgeron was about to do to the program.

This brother right here is a borderline reality denier

How in the hell can you not compare this season to our 2020 football season?

We consider ourselves the best baseball program in the country and we field a team every week that looks like they've never played baseball in their life.

It's arguably worse than 2020 football considering expectations.
Nobody expected the 2020 football team to win shite of significance - even before a worldwide pandemic

This baseball team was #1 in the country at one point.

:rotflmao:

the coach who has shown that every time he fails to make a deep run in the post season, he gets the most talented players out of the portal.

I like how we're all to just assume LSU is gonna be super loaded and win in Omaha next year because of something that's happened a whopping grand total of 2 times.

"Bro Jay Johnson has shown that we will suck and then win the natty. It's that easy!"

2024 was a down year that didn't result in a deep postseason run. I don't know what the frick this year is.

To compare this season to our 2024 team is as dishonest as saying our 2018 football team was just as bad as our 2020 football team because both didn't make the playoffs.

B. The starting rotation comes back, the freshman improve, and we get a great portal class.

I hope it's this, but until then people are going to complain. You might need to take a break from the board if you can't deal with it. You have nearly 9 pages of posting in just 2.5 days of arguing with people criticizing Jay Johnson. Go outside and get a grip
