The highest paid coach in the country not being able to assemble a roster good enough to make a 64 team playoff… when does that happen?

When his 6th/7th best hitter gets hurt, followed by his 2nd best pitcher getting hurt, followed by his best hitter and 5th best hitter getting hurt.

Arizona has been to Omaha before and after Jay btw. They aren’t some has-been baseball program. They also won the college World Series 4 times

Jay has learned his lesson and I’m confident he’s done with the Grand Canyon and High Point experiments.
I think he'll still take some of those players. I think he's done getting 1 year, senior transfers from places like that as far as hitters/fielders.

He tried to shortcut this season. He won't do that again. He'll rely on guys with more eligibility to fill out the infield and batting order, imo. He's been hinting for awhile now that he should've taken his lumps with some younger guys this season instead of bringing in seniors from Podunk High college.

It’s never ok for lsu baseball to be this bad.

He got a pass bc of prior success but next year there is no excuse.

I’ve said before. W a roster similar to his opponents he’s average at best.

I agree. Great coaches will find a way to get their teams to play at least a little better than they really are.

When he has Great players, he does great. Anything else but great players, he's pretty bad as a coach.

I said this at the beginning of March and was told, "He's won two national championships".

Yes, the two years he's won he's had great players and did a good job winning, but the two years he hasn't had "great" players he's been bad.

And, this year the pre-season ranking was number 1 or 2. So, a lot of people thought we had "Great" players this year and look at where we are.

Past performance is not indicative of future success. Winning in 2023 and 2025 has nothing to do with 2026 or 2027 or 2028.

It's obviously a big IF but if LSU isn't at the top of the league next year are we still going to say well he won 2/5? That's still an outrageous number of titles, but you can't just be arse afterwards, there's a standard.

Having a less talented team will exploit any coach's flaws. #1 will be talent evaluating, he's mentioned a few times he missed this year depending on the portal and wants to shift his focus to recruitment and development. The one thing I hope he takes a long look at is his defensive alignments with the constant shift. Jay shifted right out of a routine GB to 2nd last night before the HR. Seems to miss more than hit with the shift.

Reading this thread and then the thread I made yesterday - it's like we have 2 completely different fanbases

Simply said I don't want to believe Johnson has to have elite MLB first round talent to make deep postseason runs, and the rant wants to burn me at the stake

We really have people using the Jake Brown injury as an excuse for this season. He’s missed a whole 2 games at this point

That’s my opinion right there, he over thinks to much with these ridiculous pitching moves. I don’t know an inkling of coaching an elite baseball program but Jay does. We would have won that game if he leaves Fontenot in. I don’t know sht and don’t claim to but imo the hook on Fontenot was too quick. One thing I’m glad he’s doing is playing the younger players, I don’t know if he’s trying keep them from portaling, desperate, or realizes he completely struck out with this year’s portal. If he’s complaining about NIL he’s lost some leverage because what he paid these guys might’ve not been top $ but it’s too dam much.

That’s all we’re saying here. A repeat of this next year and JJs job is on the line.
