I generally hate child actors. Not sure why. Dakota Fanning In Man on Fire, I thought did a good job. What are some good child actors who you thought knocked the role out the park? I don’t mean teenagers or almost adults.

Haley Joel Osment was the benchmark for a long time. Might still be.

I thought Brad Renfro knocked it out of the park in The Client.

A new kid on the block started popping up in stuff a couple of years ago named Alisha Weir. She’s got some real talent. I hope Hollywood doesn’t chew her up and spit her out like so many others.

Tatum O’Neal was amazing in Paper Moon, winning Best Supporting Actress at age 10 in her movie debut.

City of God and Slumdog Millionaire set the bar for me

The kid who played child Forrest Gump was impressive as well.

Sunny Pawar delivered the GOAT child performance in Lion. *mindblown* what this kid did.

This

As far as someone new even though it’s not a movie I think Sadie Sink from Stranger Things has potential.

Natalie Portman in Professional was very good.

Abigal Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine was outstanding even with such a great cast around her.

Drew Barrymore in ET and Firestarter

Sadie Sink

She's certainly proven to have the chops; still going strong at 24; she was apparently performing in theater since 9 and got her role on Stranger Things at age 14.

Agree with a few mentioned like Nalalie Portman in The Professional and pretty much the entire cast of City of God (the benchmark for me). I'd add...

Jodie Foster - Taxi Driver
DiCaprio - What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Judy Garland - The Wizard of Oz
Hailee Steinfeld - True Grit
Whoever played Jean Louise "Scout" in To Kill a Mockingbird

Elijah Wood was a child actor before the Lord of the Rings (films like The Good Son, Flipper, Huck Finn, and North).

He seems like one of the rare ones not to be destroyed by the Hollywood child film industry.

The content that showed me how far child actors had come also involved Dakota Fanning, but it was a few years prior in the television series Taken

I was blown away at her acting. That was 2 years prior to Man on Fire.

Dean Stockwell was great in The Boy with Green Hair (1948), The Secret Garden (1949), Cattle Drive (1951). He grew up to be such a beloved TV star.
