7yr/87.5 mill with very low buyout. Bama wised up.
I think he is a decent coach, just not Saban, which is good for us.

Definitely good for us.

If Kiffin pans out for us, Bama is stuck with Deboer and can’t make a play for Kiff, if Deboer craps the bed

Yep. Fired at any point with the low buyout.

If Kiff wins a NC in the next 3 years, I don't think we will need to worry about Bama stealing him.

Why would he agree to this?

It’s not a low buyout

90% of contract value is owed if he’s fired without cause.

This is hefty sum.

They are married to him.

He’s a mediocre (at best) coach

They will fire him after he has another two 4 loss seasons in a row

His original contract ran through 2031. What has he done that warranted an extension?

Some situations suit certain coaches better than others.
Not sure this is his fit being in the SEC.
It’s Dog eat Dog.

We also all knew that following a Saban legacy left him very high chances for getting fired within 3 years.

LK will not leave LSU for Bama or another school unless major shite happens and is run out of town. He’s left mid tier for a step up each time he left one school. LSU is up there as premier jobs with resources and money. I don’t see him getting anything he Dosent want and have to start all over again for the same prestige.

why would Bama do this? He’s getting a big raise and an extension.

He’s done ok there, but he’s clearly not the answer.

This is moronic from the Bama administration.

ETA: was Scott Woodward involved? Because he’s a pro at giving horrific contracts.

exactly and why would Kiffin want BAma over LSU to deal with that expectation and shadow

At LSU, he can be king of the state of LA and win big

I think we have our guy for a long time...

he's motivated and has many lessons under his belt...

What you talking about, low buyout. The buyout is if he wants to leave. If they fire him they owe him 90%
