That has a lot more to do with our coaching than theirs.

Bama's terrible coach made the playoff last year and prison raped LSU both times he faced LSU. LSU's current coach is 0-6 vs Alabama. But Bama's current coach is trash. Welcome to the internet.

Kiffin is on 0-4* against Saban Bama with Ole Miss.

Deboer is 2-0 against BK LSU. Kiffin would be 1-1 or 2-0 against Bama Deboer if OM played Bama the last 2 years

You are high as hell if you would rather Deboer over Kiffin

Kiffin isn’t going to Bama. He’ll get an itch to leave at some point but it won’t be Bama. NFL maybe. A top school out west that plays USC every year, maybe.

The buyout numbers are definitely the interesting part here. Bama locked him in for the long haul, but that $10 million figure if he leaves isn't as high as I expected for a $12.5 million a year deal.

Bama got fat Scott to consult on that contract.

Deshit managed to rally his shite team to dog stomp BK in Death Valley and then got lucky to win last year thanks to BK Sloan and traitor Frank

The kiss of death. He will be fired at the end of the year.

Thanks Covingtontiger77. The article i read said 10mill buyout with 2 mill reduction each year into new contract. How did they get that wrong.

7yr/87.5 mill with very low buyout. Bama wised up.

I don’t see how you got that from this:
quote:

If Alabama fires him without cause, DeBoer will be owed 90% of any remaining compensation.

I’m assuming you are under the impression if he’s fired his buyout would be this, when in reality this is what he owes Bama if he leaves on his own accord:

quote:

If DeBoer leaves, he will owe Alabama:

Through Jan. 31, 2027: $10 million
Through Jan. 31, 2028: $8 million
Through Jan. 31, 2029: $6 million

This ESPN article doesn't say anything about a buyout if Bama fired him without cause. It just says $10mill till 2027 and reduces 2 mill each season after that. The article is lacking in details.

They misunderstood or it’s real poor wording on their part. From those figures they’re obviously referencing the amounts DeBoer would owe Bama in the instance he leaves since $10M is what he’d owe if he leaves before 1/31/27 and decreases $2M each year

Bottom line is it’s just as ridiculous a buyout if they fire him as the rest of the awful contracts written now. He’s not going anywhere

His original contract ran through 2031. What has he done that warranted an extension?

Made the playoffs in multiple years… he may not be Saban…. But he’s done better than 99% of coaches out there

I mean hes 2-0 vs Lsu in non competitive games.

LSU wins the 2025 game with any kind of pulse on offense. It was easily winnable and there for the taking even though LSU was a pretty bad team.

Bama is much less of a threat now with NIL in play to steal a coach. It seems they don’t have that fully in order, and definitely not when compared to LSU or Ole Miss.

Gotta give him credit for having the balls to go to Alabama after Saban

No indeed not. Other way around - he’s mediocre at worst.
