How many people actually want EBT curtailed?

I assume a majority of the Left thinks that the people receiving EBT deserve it due to past injustice.

Corporations don’t want a drop in discretionary spending, so their leadership wants it to stay (think Disney, the airlines, cruise lines, etc.). They make campaign contributions.

Food companies and grocers don’t want a dip in revenue and purchases (PepsiCo, Kroger, etc.). They too make campaign contributions.

The people receiving the benefits definitely want to keep them (and their vote counts as much as yours). I read at least 1/3 - 1/2 of the 13%. Add in the other demographics who are receiving the handout.

So how many people remain who actually want the free ride stopped?

100% of all the people that work and pay taxes, yet feel behind.

I want EBT to be restrictive as hell.

I don’t mind it being there per se, but it should be so insanely unattractive so that free loaders don’t see it as a better option.

Ground meat or chicken, cheese, vegetables. That’s it.

I want it all removed. Then the clash begins and ends very soon. To the winner go the spoils.

"Food assistance" is part of a carefully maintained subsidy to the entirety of the food industry to keep it profitable (and secure). They have lobbyists that make sure soft drinks and chips and whatever gets removed from the list every couple of years get put right back on quietly by the same people who removed it. You want to mess with that system, and have food shortages? We already pay - as part of that - some farmers to destroy their yields, or to not just plant anything at all, to stop food from being so plentiful that the market crashes and everybody goes out of business all through the chain.

Milk, beans, rice, onions, garlic, salt, pepper. All available at one commissary in town. Stop by monthly and pick it up. Bring ID.

It’s not about deserving it and has nothing to do with past injustices. Poor people do exist and either we let them starve or we feed them.

This is a false binary choice.

I bet they wouldn’t truly starve. Let’s find out.

EBT is 100 billion.

Trump is running a 2 trilly deficit.

20 fricking times, just the deficit. EBT is NOT the problem.

Ok well they pay for the food and then not for rent or electricity etc. For many something has to give and simply working more isnt a feasible option. Contrary to talking points on here many are doing everything they can and it’s not enough.

It's amazing when you see just how inefficient EBT recipients are at shopping -- even when it comes to buying snacks and junk food.

Instead of getting a store-brand corn chip or potato chip, a lot of times, it's wall-to-wall "Ruffles" "Fritos" Coca-Cola

It's like 483,000 Cousin Eddies -- "Real tomato ketchup, Eddie?"

Oh, nothing but the best, Clark."

It is when we have to import workers to do jobs Americans won’t do because they eat for free.

Then cancel it, but we're still broke as frick and all the hypocrite Trump supporters just look the other way. EBT is not a huge problem for us, it simply isn't.

Yep. Passed by a Land and Sea shop today. Big EBT sign on the door. People eating for free shouldn't be getting steak and seafood.

I'm Ok with helping people in a pinch but the way it is now there is no incentive to get off.

Needs limits on what you can get and for how long for life.

Governments can have two of these things but not all 3: Low spending, low taxes, low inflation.

Our Government has decided to go moderate taxes (especially when only 37% of Americans pay taxes), high spending and they print money to make up the difference causing high inflation.

Most Americans are not intelligent enough to put together that printing money leads to inflation and politicians can blame those on the other side for inflation and most voters eat that up.

It’s more than the expense, it’s also tax revenue lost because the freeloaders won’t work

It's not just the dollar amount. It's the welfare culture that it "feeds" hand in hand with all of our other handouts that allow for an entire class of people to not feel compelled to contribute to society.
