Milk, beans, rice, onions, garlic, salt, pepper. All available at one commissary in town. Stop by monthly and pick it up. Bring ID.
Let them have some eggs too.

I got two bags of candy, and you have to eat a piece of candy from one of them.
Bag #1 has 20 pieces of candy and 19 are poisoned.
Bag #2 has 100 pieces of candy and 20 are poisoned.
Your stupid arse would eat from bag #1 since it has less poisoned pieces because you think per capita isn't important.
I would eat bag #1 if the requirement is that I ate a whole bag. You clearly don't follow. I won't try to teach.

Family, charities, and churches should be helping people, NOT the government. The government is not good at deciding who is truly needy.
Nothing will happen, though, until Americans stand up and demand change in our government.

The people, not the government. Churches and individuals.
Every layer of bureaucracy creates at least 2 downsides: 1. Fraud waste and abuse. Instead of most or all of your money (that was taken by force) being used to feed someone, most of it is wasted or stolen. 2. The government grows it's scope and power, uses the benefit to buy votes and creates a dependent class.
Why the need to rely in a slow, inefficient, wasteful and corrupt government to do with our money what we mostly all agree we should be doing?

I bet they wouldn’t truly starve. Let’s find out.
I remember the wailing and handwringing when Clinton made some welfare cuts about people starving to death.
For some reason obesity has kept rising.

$100 billion here, $100 billion there, pretty soon it starts adding up to real money.

EBT is not a huge problem for us, it simply isn't.
You sound like the clown who posted here quite a while back, talking about the free food he was picking up weekly at his kids school.
He admitted financially he didn’t need it, but since it was free he kept loading up.
There are so many programs providing everything from food to financial assistance that they’re like tentacles of an octopus.

I don’t think most EBT people care about this.

Benefits should be the bare minimum for survival. That is it. It isn't my job to pay for someone who weighs 300 pounds while allegedly being broke.
Benefit payments should only be allowed for beans rice and a few other bare essentials and they are non transferable. Enough to survive as they look for work. Benefits should be capped for a certain time, then sorry you were unwilling to find a job.
I'll quote the info about the state that had 88% of the people drop off the benefits when forced to either volunteer 20 hours a week or take job training for 20 hours a week to receive said benefits.

Even people on EBT should be against it for a simple reason. Do you want your kids and grandkids to live on welfare?
Really?
You’ve obviously never spent time around any generational welfare recipients.

Can we just cut the greater than 50% of EBT given to non-citizens. I would be ok with this.

Yes, that culture is addicted. But Larry Elder wrote how his father in Watts got them out of it. He explained to his sons that welfare keeps you right where you are for life. Refusing welfare and working is how to move up.
I was born into poverty before EBT and suffered from malnutrition. But my dad taught us to never resent the rich. We should copy their habits. It worked for me and my brother.
In Elder's case and in mine it was the dad's influence. Today's EBT class doesn't have dads.

There should be restrictions on what you can buy.

Cooking would cut into their time fighting and shooting each other.
