Is Beaumont, TX a nice place to live?

Much of Texas is an amazing place. However, Beaumont doesn’t seem much different than shithole Louisiana. It seem dirty, dingy, and trashy. Any of you guys ever live there?

Grew up in Buttmont.....left as soon as I could ........but I kid......sorta.....I had a great childhood there. But I wouldn't want to live there as an adult.

Outside of petroleum, there are hardly any other job industries worth a damn in Beaumont. College educated people leave and go to Houston right after graduating.

Grew up with a kid whose family lived in Thomas Road and bought the house next door and built a connection between them. I would go okay basketball with him on the full court and when we would take a break the help would fix us snacks.

Grew up somewhat near there, dined there, shopped there and have driven thru there for the past 50 years. Decent community at one time. But like many cities the decent people moved to outlying communities. I sure wouldn’t live there.
Hard enough to drive thru there as well. In fact the I-10 construction between Beaumont and Louisiana Texas state line had been an epically long saga of which I don’t understand.

Lived there in mid 90’s. It was very much like Lake Charles before all the casino properties moved in. It hasn’t changed much. Mostly blue collar industrial worker types.

I just don’t see the appeal about Texas at all.
Last time I was in Houston a homeless Hispanic kid pulled his dick out at a traffic light. Sure Louisiana sucks but this was some third world shite. Hours later I pass by again and he’s still at the same intersection.
