Looks good, but Snape needs more screen time

Wow, did not expect to get the show this year.

I'm pretty optimistic from the trailer.

The characters we saw look pretty spot on minus Snape. I really want this to be good.

Looks like they saved money by lighting most of those scenes with a single candle.

They brought the lighting people over from Game of Thrones

How is this going to be different than the movies? The first movie (really the first 3 movies) followed decently close to the book.

That was so dark, I had to crank my phone brightness up to see what was going on

It will be hard for me to associate new actors with some of those characters but it looks like it’s going to be really well done.

I hate to admit it but I’m kind of sold. It looks great.

Snape looks absolutely fricking ridiculous but frick it, I’m in. They nailed the aesthetic and 90s feel that the originals stopped having after the first two movies. They nailed the magical, the sense of wonder and just how fricking fun it would be at Hogwarts.

I have a feeling they will eventually recast Snape and Dumbledore

Dreads on Snape??

Bet the serial number on his wand is scratched off.

Will he hold the wand sideways?

Holy frick this was an utterly pointless own goal.

I would say the first two.

The third movie, while good, was not as faithful to the source material as fans would have liked. Turning it into a television series allows the writers to explore subplots (both important and benign) that the movies had to cut for reasons of pacing or time. Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince are two of the most egregious examples of the movies cutting out popular subplots (Voldermort's backstory) and characters (Ludo Bagman).

I’ve said before that I have zero problem with Hermione being black, because I don’t really think anything changes.

Snape being black does change the way that the bullying will look come book 5.

But I’m going to ignore that because the rest of it looks great. Hopefully it can live up to my hope.

That looks great. All the people complaining it looks like the movies from the set pictures, I don't get that feeling at all.

that looks pretty good
the series can go into a lot more detail that the movies left out from the books

Shocked it says Christmas 2026.

If you’re going to cast a Black Snape, just give him his own aesthetic. He doesn’t have to have long black greasy hair if he doesn’t have the white, sallow skin. Snape is a loser but he’s also a potions master, someone who is still intimidating and the actor looks and feels more intimidating with his shorter, natural hair. He just looks silly and not really the part like everyone else. Everyone else looks fantastic.

But he looks so bad it stands out. And it would have been passable if he just had shorter hair. The dreads are just fricking awful

TL;DR: this mf gonna have to act his arse off for people not to hate it and him as sad as that is to say

I don’t see a chance of that happening. Maybe dumbledore, but only if we lose Lithgow. He is a bit old these days
