If all of this wade stuff is really done, why do we still have a current head coach?

If his agent/attorneys find out that they already had a deal in place to hire Wade/Fire McMahon before this, they will almost certainly sue to get the difference

Having seen this type of stuff fall through for LSU before, I won't get excited until its announced.

I do love the anti Wade contigent that act like making the tournament every year is some how mediocre. Have they tuned into any LSU basketball the last 4 years or most years prior to Wade? Making the tournament regularly is a level of success our basketball program has rarely known.

Wade's buyout goes down next week from $5M to $3M.

MM's buyout is 80% of his remaining contract amount no matter when we fire him.

IDK if CMM would be willing to change roles but I do think he'd be valuable in most roles outside of HC. He seems like a great guy and thge players love him.

Wade’s buyout drops from 5 to 3 million on April 1st. Why make the move and really turn up the heat until then?

I’ve been wondering the same thing. This board had confused me. I had to google to see if I missed MM being fired. The board looks like the coaching changes board right now speculating the new hire but there is technically no opening.

I’m genuinely wondering if they are waiting to fire MM until Wade is guaranteed or is everyone just coping.

Nothing can be announced until April 1 or 2 due to the reduction in the Wade buyout. Plus you want to make sure it's a done deal so you won't hear anything official till next week.

People still shite on Dale Brown

Dale Brown: 14 straight years in the tourney, Final Fours, Elite Eights, Sweet Sixteens

John Brady: Sweet sixteen, Final Four, Postseason in 6 of his 11 years

Jones and Johnson: 1 appearance each

I don't dislike the guy personally. My kids have gone to his summer camps the last few years and we've had the chance to meet him a few times in other settings. He's a very nice guy and his players love him. Some friends of ours are also friends with his family and they're also all very nice people. I don't, nor should anyone wish ill will upon him. But it’s time for a change. He wouldn’t want that role. He’s a coach and I think he has a good chance of success at a smaller school. I would not be surprised to see him make the tournament fairly often at a smaller school.

But it’s time.

1. That's a bad idea because there's almost assuredly going to be immediate tension in a situation like that with keeping McMahon around the program. Potential tension between McMahon and Wade. Potential tension with players in the locker room who are loyal to McMahon.

2. You'd be paying him $2.8M a year to be an assistant. If he's fired, he has a mitigation clause that requires him to seek a new coaching job elsewhere and any new salary would offset the buyout payments from LSU.
