ALL RATS CAN BURN. HELP?

I had them take over my shop. I tried everything and the only thing that really worked was the old style big snap traps baited with peanut butter. Between 5 traps I killed 26 rats.

Had an old baw at work tell me to spray the wires with white lithium grease spray, they wont chew any more wires. Says they do that when they store equipment where that's a problem.

Leave the seat off when not in use. Without the seat for cover, they do not seem to nest in our bikes anymore.

You have to go to war, multiple layers of attack

make sure any type of feed is gone, spilled corn, dog food, garbage , anything they can eat

first clean your atv, i mean really clean it with pressure washer, ammonia ( you have to get their urine smell out of it, they come back to thier own scent), go ahead and spray with peppermint oil, coat the wires with silicone , put crumbled up irsh spring soap etc
move your atv, find it a new home at least temporarily until the rats are gone
then set up rat poison (one bite is great) , rat traps, bait buckets, and get a cat
once the rats are gone then you can return your atv

Depends on what you are dealing with mice. Lithium grease if I'm not mistaken, is mostly mineral oil and a couple of other things with additives for rust protection and all that. I wouldn't expect that to stop rats.

I’m not a cat person by any means but the benefits of a yard/shop cat far outweigh any prejudices I have against them. I’m a firm believer in them for reasons like this.

Also Reese’s cups on the old school slap traps seem to be something they can’t resist.

ETA is it in an enclosed shop or building? If so (I know this won’t help much now that they’re in) but if you can find any hole or crack that they may be using to get in and stuff it with steel wool I’ve heard that will keep any more from getting in.

get you a few pet rat snakes (harmless) ..... vermin situation GONE in < a week

If you resort to snap traps, run 3 or 4 nails through the bottom of the trap so when it snaps, the nails poke em. Had some really big barn rats and my dad used this trick to keep em from running off with the trap.
