That has to be a pretty sparse Venn diagram from a vacation planning perspective.

Let see, fight the traffic, then the crowds at the overpriced, hard to get in, over rated restaurants, pay premium pricing for a basic condo. Or, just buy a plane ticket to USVI, eat better, no traffic or crowds, better beaches.....

Y'all can keep OB, 30A, and Gulf Shores. I'll take St. Croix or St. John 10 times out of 10 and spend about the same amount of money and achieve my goal of de-stressing.

Got a place in Ft. Morgan that I truly cherish, it’s a 1/2 acre of prestige beach front that I will die over. It’s all mine and I will die on that hill like Daniel did.

For shits and giggles, I just went on VRBO and searched for accomadations in Ft. Morgan. After getting a few data points, I changed the search location to St. Croix. Laughable! Of course you have to factor in the cost of the airline ticket, but I figure you might spend $500 more, give or take, but if your goal is to vacation and destress from normal life, $1000 more is well worth it! You will eat better, you won't be on a crowded beach 5 feet away from Travis and his family blasting shitty gansta wrap while pounding Natty Lights. You will not have to deal with all the traffic bullshite, and the hour wait for a table a place that serves food that is just in on par with The Shrimp Basket, or Capn D's. Best of all you can pay $5/person for day access to a resort beach, chairs included under a coconut tree and someone bringing you drinks from the bar and whatever food they serve there. No lunging all your shite back and forth from your room and pay $50+/ day to a company to set up a couple of chairs and an umbrella.

We live 3 hours from the FL/AL beaches and havent been there in years! Pain in the arse with the traffic, cost, crowds, DIRTBAG people.

You can stay anywhere you want, but for a very small fee, this place gives you access to the things I described above. Or you could just stay there, and pay less than a 2 bedroom condo at Ft, Morgan and stare at oil derricks from your beach chair.

I take the two hour drive because I have dogs and it’s cheaper and easier. And dirtbag people are everywhere.

I vacation to relax. .Stayed in Ft. Morgan more times than I can remeber, all due to not having to put up with the bullshite that comes with OB and Gulf Shores.. If I were to head to a local beach, I'm searching out Ft. Morgan first. Got friends with a condo in OB. Stayed there with them once, and got reminded why I don't go to OB.

Fort Morgan’s violent crime rate is astronomically lower than your islands.

Just for shits and giggles. The entire state of Alabama has a lower homicide rate. Dirtbag people.

I have driven on just about every road there is in St. Croix. Went to their casino where we were the only white people. Never had the first problem or ever had any feeling of being unsafe. Everytime I go, I pick up one of those free real estate guides with the dream of one day buying a place there.

I'm not worried about getting killed in St. Croix, but when I have to go to Montgomery for work, my head is on a swivel. I have to go next week. The place I;m going looks like Fallujah after our Marines were there a week. Fun times.
