Building a huge turd in the toilet is more accurate.

I grew up with LSU MBB and stormed the court in ‘02 when we took down #1 Arizona.

We are so far away from anything like that.

I simply don’t care anymore and that’s a shame.

The Advocate spoke to four LSU basketball fans before LSU’s 90-83 loss to No. 17 Alabama on Saturday about this season and coach Matt McMahon.
Three of the four fans said they’re unsatisfied with the season because of the consistent losing.

Here are the top quotes

quote:

“I know we got a lot of talent,” Lockhart said. “I think McMahon's a good coach. Not really sure what's going on. I know we lost our best player, best two players, in our point guard (Dedan Thomas) and Jalen Reed. But it’s just you go on the road, and you lose by three. You come home, you lose by 30.”

quote:

LSU sophomore Revius Norris said the basketball team has been “tough to watch” but that injuries are a significant reason.
“I do think also it's just kind of a momentum thing because, once players get injured, then the morale kind of drops, and it's kind of hard to come back from that many injuries,” Norris said.

quote:

“I mean, it's a little rough, but we're still in the bubble,” he said. “We can still make it if we win out, if we beat Bama, we got it. I still believe in us.

quote:

“Ready for a change, I believe,” he said. “I'm happy that he came when we were in dire need. Program was in shambles, but it's probably time for a change.

Norris said a firing should be considered.
“Four years and no tournament, that's something you got to look into because you don't want to go in the next season and make it five and rather be safe than sorry,” he said. “So I do think they got to look into that more.”

Ard said she’s not sure McMahon should be fired. She also said she wasn’t a fan of former coach Will Wade’s departure after being fired for cause because of committing NCAA violations.

Thibodeaux was the most supportive of McMahon, although he didn’t directly say the university should keep him after his fourth year.
“I saw a lot of people hate (on) McMahon,” Thibodeaux said. “I love McMahon. He's such a great guy. It's up in the air. It all depends on the AD, and it depends on the boosters.”

We have some STUPID & GULLIBLE fans. Those quotes are enough to make your head hurt.

I see the media is trying their hardest to float the injuries excuse. Poor Matt is the only coach that has injured players. Just not fair.

That being said: Geaux Ole Miss! Win by at least 25 please!

You have to remember. These are the people who are still showing up for the games. The knowledgeable basketball fans who aren't living in delusion have long stopped showing up.

He says the latter...but still thinks "McMahon is a good coach".

I bet if you went to this same guy and said: "LSU is considering replacing McMahon with a coach whose record in (nearly) four seasons at a major conf. school is 59-66 (16-52) with 3 seasons finishing as one of the bottom 2 teams in the conference and zero NCAA Tournament appearances. Do you think that guy sounds like a good coach? And would you be in favor of him replacing McMahon?" The answer would be a resounding NO to both questions.

Yet, if you said sorry, that's actually McMahon's record at LSU he would say "well I still think he's a good coach."

quote:

“I mean, it's a little rough,

"The trip across the Atlantic was pretty smooth. It got a little rough when we hit that iceberg. But otherwise, it was fine."

McMahon has tanked the program, has the fewest SEC wins over the course of 4 seasons, hasn't sniffed the NCAA tournament, has the lowest winning % of any coach in a century, and is drawing home crowds of less people than an ICE protest in Denham Springs, and all these LSU fans can say is.....
