Starting to find some good sheds.

I know you hunt in Texas, usually looks like scrub brush areas. Any advice for Louisiana’s thick woods on how to find them? I know where the bedding areas are, they are pretty thick where I’m at, but not necessarily briar thickets, just heavy underbrush. Do you just walk aimlessly in those areas? I’ve never found any sheds I was trying to find specifically.

My son and I are going shed and arrowhead hunting today in Wilson/Atascoca County. And to go eat some South Texas Mexican food.

One of my better survivors lost one side according to camera.
Successful shed hunting in the Deep South depends on if the bucks drop before green up. Check green fields and trails entering bedding areas.

I’ve got 6 or 7 10 pointers, big 9 and an 11 pointer that I’m looking for still.

I usually find 1-2 a year turkey hunting. Most are following their trails thru the hills.

I found 5 yesterday . First I check any open areas , food plots, fields, etc then trails leading from bedding areas . Now till spring break they should be dropping daily. Im between Austin and Marble Falls.

I haven’t even searched yet. I’ll look around during turkey season, usually find them within 30 yards of an edge of some sort.

No luck for us but had a good time. Still figuring out our lease and have a better idea where to look next time. Filled the feeder back up and the pigs were back already last night. We’ll probably go back for spring turkey season in a couple of weeks. Have never done it so it should be pretty comical.

I suck at turkey hunting. Sound like a dying turkey and end up calling in bobcats and yotes
