- Jason Howery, an avid fossil hunter, discovered the 92-pound mammoth or mastodon femur on February 13, 2026, in a shallow Missouri river, noting its exceptional preservation due to sediment burial and icy conditions that prevented decay.
- Mastodon femurs typically measure 3-4 feet long and weigh 50-100 pounds in adults, supporting Howery's claim; a 2019 University of Michigan study on Ice Age megafauna highlights how river erosion often exposes such bones after millennia underground.

He might want to keep digging in that spot.

But apparently that isn’t real since according to most OT users the earth is only 6,000 years old

In 20 generations from now in certain parts of the Deep South, that’ll be an average human femur.

Check out the Waco mammoth site if you’re ever in Central Texas. They built an observation deck above the excavation area.

So it was just sitting in water 6 inches deep, and he happened to set up his camera to "discover" it? Seems more than a little shady.
I'm not saying it isn't real, but the video setup is suspect.

Pretty sure he saw it, knew what it was, and set up his camera to film removing it.
Not sure why that is so shady

He just handles it like that? Pulls it out unconcerned that it may fall apart as he's tugging on it? Hmm...

I saw that Mastodon's progeny all over Mardi Gras last weekend.
