Hunted all year with a Mossberg .308 that my dad got me back in high school. Norma Whitetail 150 grain ammo.
The ammo opened wounds like no ammo I’ve used before (I’m talking don’t even have to try finding blood, it’s huge trails) but every deer I’ve shot with it has run a decent ways. All of the shots were good too, one heart shot ran 100+ yards through a water hole and up and over steep hills
she was a pain to drag out.
Gonna give the new Sig marksman 165 grain a try this next year.
Note: i just like to try different ammos

The doe that I shot with my 308 was with the sig 165 gr marksman hunters. 150 yard shot and it tore her up.
this was on the entrance side. The heart was just gone. Golf ball sized exit in front of the opposite shoulder and blood sprayed everywhere.

2 deer with Ruger #1 25-06, interlocks, 215 and 75 yards. 1 deer with CVA scout 35 whelen, 180 grain TTSX 300 yards.
Planning to take out a few pigs in the next couple of weeks. Most likely will be using the 6.5 Grendel.

Hate to say it but I never hunted this year for deer. Just been busy and we have a new puppy that’s a handful (now a 70lbs 6mth old Bernese Mtn Dog).
Heck, I’ve only been able to go predator hunting a few times so far and only one of those was successful with a bobcat (.223).
