So, do we actually want Puerto Rico to become a State?

The United States doesn’t have a single, unified answer to that because Americans are split, and the split runs along a few predictable lines.
Some Puerto Ricans are using the Bad Bunny halftime show as a call for independence. Many claim the island residents are very clear on this: NO to independence and YES to statehood. It’s always a thing that people who call for independence of the island reside in the various states.
Alternatively, is this a "mainland thing"? Other Puerto Ricans roll their eyes when mainland activists try to use something like the Bad Bunny halftime show as a symbolic push for independence. It’s a cultural moment being repurposed by people who don’t live with the day-to-day consequences of independence debates.
Personally, I don't because it seems like a foreign country to me that needs to be on it's own. I don't want to take on the headaches of assimilation and costs.
You?

Eventually, maybe, but at present, no. We need to change a lot of our regulations around PR to give them more opportunities to improve their economy, increase living standards, and further assimilate the population.
I would consider them for statehood when we are evaluating adding Canadian provinces, Cuba, and other Caribbean and Central American nations as states.

No.
They are too much a basket case for statehood and frankly I don’t even want to keep them as a territory.

Trade it to Denmark for Greenland and let’s take Baja from Mexico and make it a territory along with Cuba after they collapse. Final move is bring back the cube for DC with the Virginia land, Risk winning

No. I appreciate the Cuban people living in America and their gratitude to be US citizens.
If you don’t embrace the full history of America and the founding fathers, frick off.

Let them become an independent country, then turn the whole island into a big military base. Do the same with Hawaii.

When they kicked the Navy out of Vieques, it soured me on PR ever getting statehood. They're hostile to the US in every regard but our money. Let them be Cuba.

How with this be accretive to the average American’s life?
I see zero benefit to the Country.
With everything being exactly the same except this was a conservative leaning country, the D’s would have zero empathy or desire.
When framed as to why aside from political gain for one party would the US make this a state, there is no logical answer.
